The Special Projects Manager, Technical Operations for GFiber will support deployment, operations, installations and maintenance of a fiber optic network for residential and business customers throughout (market x). This position will report to the Head of Metro Technical Operations and flex within a market or region to meet the needs of the business, plugging into areas where needs are critical, and then rapidly moving onto new areas of need as the business evolves. As a part of your development, you may rotate to other regions and take on new responsibilities. Your ability to travel and or take on temporary duty assignments is a must. Additionally, new permanent leadership roles may become open in new or existing markets. In order to be considered as a candidate for these roles, they may require relocation.



This role requires a passion for being on-the-ground, executing complex projects that improve internet access, speed, and service in your community. It will require substantial knowledge of our industry and willingness to learn much more. A versatile skill set, a flexible approach, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges as the role evolves and changes is critical. This role requires a deep understanding of telecommunications networks and what it takes to keep the network operational within established service level agreements (SLAs). This role looks out for the customer first and works hard to ensure that the network doesnt fail them.



**In this role, you'll:**



+ Support the deployment and operation of GFiber's FTTH build in a metropolitan area. Assist the Head of Metro Technical Operations in leading all Deployment and Operational team members within a metropolitan area.

+ Ensure alignment between various parts of the customer network deployment from design all the way to service delivery. Ensure the best local network is designed, built, and maintained with speed and within business goals.

+ Work with city management to ensure business targets are met. Coordinate with city officials, jurisdictional authorities and utility representatives.



**Minimum Qualifications:**



+ BA/BS degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.

+ 7 years of experience with fiber network operations, outside and inside plant fiber infrastructure.

+ 7 years of experience leading teams and vendor management.

+ Experience with budgeting, forecasting costs, project reporting, capacity planning, quality assurance, equipment turn-up, testing and acceptance.



**Preferred Qualifications:**



+ MBA or Master's degree in Technology.

+ 10 years of operational network excellence with relevant industry experience, and hands-on technical leadership and people management experience.

+ Knowledge of inside and outside plant fiber optic network infrastructure, and engineering design and construction. Knowledge of network drawings, route maps and scopes of work, interpreting fiber test results and auditing projects for compliance with scopes of work.

+ Experience in operational improvement, process/workflow development, and managing complex cross-functional projects.
