Staples, Inc. Framingham, MA Sr. Automation Engineer DUTIES: + Design and develop robotic and automation solutions for order fulfillment and retail distribution operations. + Develop and support solutions from idea creation and successful Proof of Concept to a network rollout. + Implement design and building of robust scalable robotic and automated solutions for company fulfillment. + Apply mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and mathematical optimization in tactical execution of optimal or near-optimal solutions to complex decision-making problems. + Work closely with cross functional teams to integrate solutions into existing infrastructure. + Develop software and hardware designs and provide technical expertise in construction and deployment. + Perform on-site commissioning support. + Provide leadership to coordinate the multi-functional team and external contractors to integrate automated solutions like Robotics, Conveyor control solutions, Robotic Arms, etc. + Develop accurate, timely and realistic project plans and evaluate tactical project decisions utilizing economic analysis. + Travel 50% to support customer fulfilment centers across the U.S., including design meetings, project implementations, and system design and support. + Position is fixed location based in Framingham office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed up to two (2) days per week. **Qualifications :** REQUIREMENTS: + Requires a Masters degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field + Two (2) years of experience in automation engineering or in a related field. + Two (2) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently): + Designing a high quality, scalable enterprise robotic or automated solutions, such as Autonomous vehicles; Robotic Arms at both software and hardware level; and deploying network wide + Developing detailed project schedule; executing multiple projects on time, within budget, and to established success criteria; and providing communication to Senior Management + Technical project management and developing software platforms, Automation Frameworks, web services, APIs, and sophisticated autonomous algorithms + Managing integration and testing of software, Release Processes, and CI/CD + Hands-on experience in programming languages like Python; C; C++; C#; Java; or JavaScript + Hands-on experience using Windows; Linux OS; or Android systems + People management, including managing a geographically dispersed team of 2-4 people + One (1) year of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently): + Dealing with electronic systems like Sensors; processing units like Arduino; Nano Pi; and Mechatronics systems + Data mining, statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, and tools, such as PostgreSQL; Teradata; or MSSQL; and Analytic tools, such as Tableau or Power BI 40 hours/week.
