Sr. Manager, Solutions Architect (Remote Eligible)
As a Senior Manager, Solutions Architect for Commercial Bank Technology, you will be solving impactful technical problems. These are things that are hard to change later, the decisions that are important and wed better get right. Capital Ones Commercial Bank provides a myriad of complex products that are critical for our clients operations and we build solutions for them as well as our associates that support them. We are well along on our journey to get out of data centers and COTS products to cloud-native, real-time, ML-enabled greenfield apps.
We have a polyglot landscape and rely heavily on Open Source Software, building with Go, TypeScript, Python, Java, React; we use Kafka, Restful APIs, GraphQL, Containers, Lambda, and run all of it on the public cloud, taking advantage of its managed services.This is a great opportunity to influence long-term direction on this journey.
In this role you will be responsible for a solution architecture within line of business or a major shared capability in the Commercial Bank. You will bring in a larger enterprise focussed context to the teams and guide their architecture evolution in response to business changes. You will also work with them on discovery of their long-term destination state so we can ensure that all of our work is dedicated to that vision.
This is a challenging role that requires a wide breadth of experience and knowledge. You need to be able to form a vision, back it up with your own lessons learned and technical expertise, communicate it well using many techniques at your disposal, succeed in influencing the teams and their leadership, and finally prove out architecture by working alongside the teams.
In addition, we will rely on your thought leadership and evangelism to help the Commercial Bank keep an eye out for new tech as well as implement best engineering practices. Success in this role will require you to be highly experienced, collaborative, proactive, hands-on, and constructive.
What were looking for:
+ Deep expertise in at least one technical domain (e.g. data, low latency, integration)
+ Deep knowledge of at least one programming language
+ Experience designing and building large systems (many teams, services, capabilities, technologies)
+ Breadth of knowledge (from CICD to Observability, from Security to Cloud infrastructure, from microservices to document databases)
+ Developer empathy
+ Experience building cloud-native applications
+ Design/Architecture toolbox (e.g. ATAM, DDD)

Basic Qualifications
+ At least 8 years experience in software engineering
+ At least 3 years experience in systems architecture
Preferred Qualifications
+ Financial industry experience
+ Public cloud infrastructure experience
+ Production machine learning experience (including model management)
+ Working with data pipelines and analytics on large data sets
+ Migrating off mainframes
+ Experience working with small cross-functional agile teams that include Product and Design
