Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer / Programmer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL; where technology and teamwork come together to create world-class training products. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's very successful Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Virtual Training Systems (VTS) Team, responsible for delivering training products geared for a military audience on a multitude of Defense sector programs. The VTS team develops Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) that includes game-based training, virtual, and constructive training. This includes interactive and immersive environments that are on the cutting edge of technology, providing learning experiences that foster creative engagement and problem solving in a risk-free, dynamic realm of interactive encounters.

The Senior Principal Software Engineer will join the software development team that designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs our application software systems containing logical and mathematical solutions for military 3D game-based training. The Software Engineer determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities, output requirements, input data acquisition, and programming techniques; and ensures software standards are met. The Senior Principal Software Engineer must be highly familiar with commercial and/or open source game engines and the techniques they use including shadow casting, object occlusion, LODs, ambient occlusion, animation blending, shaders, batching, skeletal support, particle systems, and networking.

The successful candidate must minimally meet the following requirements:

+ Minimum Education / Experience: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
+ Strong technical skills. Must be active learner of hardware and software applications
+ Ability to quickly grasp and communicate technical subjects clearly and concisely
+ Strong interviewing and listening skills; must be able to ask the right questions of the subject matter experts (SMEs)
+ Strong usability and testing skills; must take an active role in validation of documentation
+ Good organizational skills, must be able to plan own work and that of junior teammembers
+ Ability to work and adjust to changes in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
+ Must be a team player
+ Must be self-managing and self-motivated
+ Advanced C++/C#/Java coding skills, experience with Unity3D programming

**Preferred Qualifications:**
Candidates with any of the following preferred qualifications will receive preferential hiring consideration:

+ Ten+ years of experience with Unity 3D development
+ Ten+ years of experience with 3D simulations / gaming technology
+ Strong interviewing and listening skills; must be able to ask the right questions of the subject matter experts (SMEs)
+ Strong usability and testing skills; must take an active role in validation of documentation
+ Demonstrated experience working in an agile scrum development environment
+ Experience with software data repositories like Azure DevOps, AlienBrain, Jira/Confluence, etc.

Salary Range: $114,300.00 - $171,500.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
