As a **Sr. Software Engineer Visualization and Rendering** you willapply technical expertise towards developing state-of-the-art software-based visualization and rendering solutions for displaying high-fidelity medical images and complex medical data on Medtronics surgical navigation and robotics platforms.


You will work closely with other software development teams and cross-functional teams using Agile software development practices. You will ensure tests pass relative to design specifications, prepare formal documentation, and educate stakeholders regarding solutions. You will provide solutions that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity and work is performed under only general direction to determine technical objectives of assignments.


**A Day in the Life**


In this role you will:


+ Design, develop, test, and document complex, customer-facing software components around visualization and rendering for surgical navigation and robotics products.

+ Design, develop, test, and document internal software components and infrastructure to support efficient development of software components related to surgical navigation and robotics products.

+ Participate in requirements gathering, estimating, and planning efforts.

+ Interface with systems and test engineers as well as quality assurance and regulatory compliance teams.

+ Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and support existing products.

+ Participate and often recommend on-going professional development activities.

+ Implement process improvements.

+ Effectively contribute to development teams.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements\**


+ Bachelors degree in a technically related field required

+ Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience


**Preferred Qualifications**


**Specialized skill**


+ Strong programming skills in compiled languages, for example C++ or C#.

+ Strong programming skills in modern visualization and rendering technologies and frameworks, for example shader-based OpenGL, Vulkan, or WebGPU.

+ Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug, and test practices.

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.

+ Leadership and mentorship capabilities.

+ Ability to work in an Agile team environment.


**Nice to have**


+ Strong programming skills in Javascript and/or Typescript.

+ Expert knowledge of software design.

+ Expert developing medium to large size applications with User Interface focus.

+ Experience with development on GNU/Linux platform.

+ Experience with modern, iterative software design processes and development practices (Scrum, Scaled Agile Framework, Test Driven Development).

+ Software development experience in the medical industry or other regulated industry.

+ Project management skills, including planning, estimation, and requirements management.

+ Expertise in one or more of the following: web-based technologies.
