Role and Responsibilities


As Team Representative (TR) of the FST Application team, you will work with a team of systems engineers to design, implement, deploy, manage, and support the SAS System Operation Index (SOI) software. Primary responsibilities include providing expert level technical guidance, leading and orchestrating major software enhancements developed in house, performance tuning and scaling of application environment, managing system database optimization, addressing common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) within the system, and working with internal teams to provide custom business solutions, providing continuous improvement of the SAS SOI framework.

This candidate will serve in a critical role within a high-paced manufacturing environment responsible for ensuring uninterrupted content delivery and application availability, as well as new feature evaluation and delivery. This role fulfills key business objectives of transforming and modernizing how our organization conducts daily work, through strong documentation and communication practices, tailored business process evaluation and transformation into modern web applications.

  • Lead solution design, architecture, and implementation across various custom application environments developed at SAS to enhance and support key business and technical processes.

  • Provide guidance and support to direct reports, including regular team meetings, quarterly one-on-ones, annual performance reviews, and performance management when necessary.

  • Help team members succeed in several disciplines: incident prevention and release success, system stability, solution architecture and design, customer service, innovation, and career development.

  • Advocate and educate as a subject matter expert and a champion for best practices within Full Stack development team, involving various levels of contribution during the software development lifecycle. Including code review, dependency verification, test case preparation and evaluation, as well as release success overall.

  • Oversee application ownership of the System Operation Index (SOI) platform, handling day-to-day administration tasks including routine maintenance, user management, creating & managing projects/spaces, and troubleshooting issues with end users.

  • Actively collaborating with other cross-functional teams to ensure high-performance of applications.

  • Perform complex product analysis as well as development duties that may include significant research and analysis.

  • Conduct training for teams regarding new functionality, providing end-user documentation / training materials.

  • Lead or participate in conference calls with GH counterparts outside of 1st shift hours.

  • Communicate projects, incidents, and other announcements to all levels of the organization.

  • Contribute to weekly reports, KPI tracking, and other management requests as they arise.

  • May include periodic off-shift support for urgent issues to support 24x7 facility operations (team operates in a rotating on-call schedule).

  • Workdays and hours: 1st-Shift, Mon-Fri, 8am - 5pm (some flexibility available).


Skills and Qualifications


  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years experience as Software Developer OR 5+ years at SAS with in-depth experience in one or more systems.

  • Knowledge of source control using Git.

  • Knowledge of multiple front-end languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and their libraries.

  • Knowledge of back end languages (.Net Framework) and their libraries.

  • Knowledge of database technologies such as MSSQL and Oracle.

  • Knowledge of effective software design patterns and methodologies.

  • Expert level understanding of modern web application development utilizing front end stack consisting of HTML5, CSS 3.0, Typescript, JavaScript, Angular and C# .Net Framework (and/or .Net Core) backend.

  • Experience with SQL use on MSSQL, Oracle a plus.

  • Experience installing applications on VMs, monitoring performance, and tailing logs on Unix Systems Administration, as well as windows server performance troubleshooting (related to app impact).

  • Experience designing and building top-quality user interfaces.

  • Experience presenting complex data in clear and concise manner in application presentation layer.

  • Experience designing/implementing intricate data layer and movement/migration of bulk data a plus.

  • Experience implementing high impact software in a fast paced environment, responding in an agile manner to evolving requirements and priorities.

  • Experience working in development environment utilizing Jira workflows, Kanban, and agile scrum.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to assess situations, and set priorities.

  • Self-starter with excellent problem solving/analytical skills, and the ability to work well in a team-based environment and to meet business objectives.

  • Familiarity with Java programming a plus.

  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum development a plus.
