JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Infrastructure Services, and in collaboration with IT Department Management, Enterprise Architect, the Information Security Office, and Lead System Engineer, provides technical expertise as it applies to server and systems hardware, operating systems, and general data center operations. This position is charged with the responsibility of, and accountability for, providing long term systems solutions to the company-s needs as well as maintaining reliability/service level operational standards as dictated by IT management. The Systems Engineer is directly responsible for hardware, OS, and product implementation, day-to-day integrity, and operation of Windows, Linux, Unix, and other systems in all environments. The Systems Engineer will also assist in the planning of short and long-range changes in configuration, in making recommendations for the selection of platform configurations, hardware, operating systems, and utility software, and will assist in the planning, provisioning, installation, documentation, and administration of all server hardware, operating systems, peripherals, local storage subsystems, utility software, and applications setup. He/she will also assist in the recommendation of data center and NOC tools and monitoring facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
4 years of experience
Strong background in system administration, network monitoring and management with system utilities and open source or commercial tools and services
Strong understanding and experience in server hardware technology including RAID, SCSI, HBA, NIC, Intel CPU
Strong understanding and experience with any of the following operating systems: Linux, Unix, Microsoft and general infrastructure components; IP networking services, Apache, HA clustering, BIND, Sendmail, Perl/PHP/CGI scripting
Strong understanding and experience with Windows Server operating system technologies, including Active Directory, Windows Cluster, DHCP, WINS, DNS, IIS, Exchange, MS SQL, etc.
Licenses and Certifications: As applicable on various system platforms, operations systems, and
system applications in accordance with course of study and experience, e.g Linux, MS Windows, VMware, Exchange, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
Microsoft certification as MCSE+Internet; Similar certification with Unix or Linux platforms
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years supporting large enterprise server/storage environments with a working knowledge of delivering services such as AD, AAD, ADFS, DNS, GPO, DHCP – required
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience administering large enterprise SAN//DAS/NAS storage architectures with a working knowledge of storage protocols (CIFS, NFS, SMB) and vendor solutions such as NetApp, EMC, Nutanix. – required
Strong background in implementing and managing server and storage infrastructure and platforms using platform management products, and other storage-related technologies (fabric, replication, clustering, archiving) – required
In-depth knowledge of Office 365 product ecosystem, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive - required
Demonstrated ability to engineer complex Office 365 rollout and integration scenarios such as company mergers and spin-offs - preferred
Experience with architecting, designing, securing, installing, troubleshooting, and documenting integrated server and storage solutions - preferred
Working knowledge of virtualization software such as AHV, VMware 6.x VCP, VCAP, vSAN - preferred
Experience in operating system configuration management systems (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Windows PowerShell Desired State Configuration, or equivalent). - preferred
Proven experience in writing small to medium-sized scripts with PowerShell / Bash. – required
Experience working in a DevOps environment and automation – required
