Fitch Group Finance team operates under a global management structure with the global department heads split between the London and New York offices. There are four regions that the company operate in: US, Latin America, EMEA and Asia Pacific.

The Tax Accountant position will contribute to the company success by producing monthly management reports and other metrics, including detailed variance analysis. Responsibilities include preparation of monthly sales & use tax payments and returns for our various US entities, preparation of other state & local tax filings, monthly tax journal entries & reconciliations, and assist in state tax audits. The ideal candidate will have superior reconciliation skills and strong knowledge of GAAP. The position will be based in New York in a hybrid WFH environment (2 days in office, 3 days WFH).

Responsibilities
Provide accounting and analytical support for assigned aspects of the business
Support the month-end close process by booking tax accruals, performing fluctuation analyses on account balances, and perform key account reconciliations
Prepare and process sales and use tax information monthly for returns in a timely matter as required by tax authorities
Prepare other non-income state and local tax returns and process payments, including Commercial Rent Tax, B&O Tax, and CAT
Assist with calculation and preparation of various Canadian tax filings
Prepare and file annual federal 1099 forms
Document FATCA compliance and preparation of Form 1042
Assist in production of budget and forecast schedules for taxes
Assist with sales and use tax audit defence, including performing research, summarizing information and drafting responses
Review and respond to tax notices
Research tax laws and rules to ensure compliance with state laws
Assist internal income tax team with various support schedules for income tax audits
Assist with ad-hoc projects, including M&A integration work, implementing new software & process roll-outs, and other cross-functional projects
Collaborate with team members to provide insightful analysis and management information for timely decision making
Support in annual financial audit and SOX audit

Qualifications & Desired Skills
Minimum Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation
Preferred Graduate degree or CPA
Minimum of 3 years post-graduation accounting & tax experience
Ability to work efficiently independently as well as part of a team
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, decision-making skills and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Familiarity with Vertex O Series tax software preferred
Strong time management skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks against competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to organize data, and provide data-driven recommendations and solutions
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Intermediate to advance in Excel
