The VDC Engineer to support our interiors self-perform team within general trades for Austin Bridge & Road, an Employee-Owned company. The Employee-Owner (VDC Engineer) may assume VDC management responsibilities as required in support of project execution onsite. VDC Engineers may also have some project responsibilities integrated with other trades as specified above.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical, process, and related support for BIM 360, Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, and other VDC supported systems as required.
Set up models for coordination and run clash detection.
Perform Model QA/QC and Quantity Take Off.
Record quantities and provides reporting.
Participate in software testing for new releases of new and existing software.
Work with project teams and prepare sit logistics plans in Bluebeam and SketchUp and/or Revit.
Review and edit BIM Execution Plan, including 01370 and AE BIM Guidelines.
Manage and mentor interns and/or PE 1's on company VDC Standards.
Qualifications:
In-depth understanding of wall framing, installation methods, architectural drawings, wall framing details.
Ability to read drawings and specifications.
Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the team including contractors, architects and leadership.
Understand different job families and their roles.
Accurately creates, modifies, and revises models from drawing.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knows how to read plans, specs, Geotech reports, Construction Schedules and utilizing Blue Beam.
Intermediate understanding of RFIs, Submittals process, CMiC, P6, MC2, CostX, Document Management.
Intermediate understanding of Estimating, Scheduling, Marketing/BD, Project Management, Diversity Affairs, Risk Management and Field Execution. EO shadowed people of other job families and provided a white paper on his/her understanding of other roles in ACLP.
Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIMTrack, ACLP Database, GoTo Meeting, BIM360 Glue.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Ability to act decisively and effectively in stressful situations with a sense of urgency.
Thorough and up to date knowledge of VDC/BIM best practices.
Ability to lead, develop and manage staff.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
Five (5) or more years work experience in the construction industry.
Knows how to read plans, specs, Geotech reports, Construction Schedules and utilizing Blue Beam.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations facilities.
