Summary of Job:
The incumbent will be responsible for leading a team of Coordinators and Detailers in the standardization and production of all Virtual Construction Documents including Mechanical and Plumbing systems for both spatial coordination and fabrication to be utilized by the fabrication and construction operations of the company. This is a critical role that will be responsible for setting up projects prior to BIM modelling and coordination while Coaching and developing personnel and enforcing standards to ensure consistency across all projects. This position will supervise Coordinators and Detailers of HVAC, Plumbing and Piping disciplines. It oversees team productivity, time management, group standards and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
Key Initiatives:
Review contract documents thoroughly for all projects and recommend a strategy prior to modeling. Incorporate best practices, constructability, and cost effectiveness.
Operate as the pre-construction project manager of BIM tasks, pushing construction management and other internal/external stake holders to stay on task.
Work with Project Managers to obtain information required for BIM, schedule coordination and design tasks, conduct BIM reviews and off-team quality reviews, and conduct site visits.
Facilitate BIM coordination meetings on projects where Lee Company is the BIM lead on the project. This includes running the model during coordination meetings and assigning clashes to individuals or sub-contractors.
Assist management in the recruitment and growth of the best Coordinators and Detailers in the industry to meet future growth goals.
Enforce project templates, standard and processes as previously established throughout the Virtual Construction Group.
Perform initial model and drawing file setup while continually updating models as required throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist BIM Coordinators with modelling functions as required by the project schedule to ensure that project deadlines are met.
Support the Robotic Total Station layout team with site control through communication with internal or external project teams.
Management:
Manage all routine duties related to direct report of BIM Coordinators and Detailers.
Schedule and balance the daily work activity among the Virtual Construction Group team members to support the construction and fabrication needs.
Accountable for providing BIM estimates, monitoring and meeting financial goals and schedules.
Maintain an accurate schedule of required activities for each project. Work with team members to assign and prioritize tasks and track progress for all.
Job Requirements:
Strong Project Management skills, able to take input from various groups inside and outside the company and direct the team in timely and accurate deliverables.
Directive knowledge in MEP software specially Autodesk Fabrication CADmep, Revit, and Navisworks.
Ability to develop strong relationships with Project Managers and work closely with the Engineering group.
Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills.
Strong self-starter, professional and ethical conduct; represent the company well.
Must be highly detail-oriented and accurate and have the ability to understand and lead technical people.
Experience with design aspects such as duct and pipe sizing, code compliance, and best practices for piping installation;
Education and Experience:
Experience in leadership and direct supervision of technical personnel.
Minimum 10 years of experience in construction based mechanical design and fabrication.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication CADMEP and Autodesk Navisworks or any other BIM software is a plus
A working familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and ability to be trained in use of the Company-specific applications and software
