Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a **Mechanical Design Engineer** to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in **Redondo Beach, CA** .

In this role you will:

+ Support the structural design activities with focus on composites structures.
+ Execute engineering design projects on schedule (BTPs, Mod Drawings, Production).
+ Support the creation of reports to document findings of projects.
+ This individual will utilize 3D CAD using CATIA V5 to support design tasks.
+ The candidate should also have an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles

Basic Qualifications (Principal Mechanical Engineer):

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university with 5 years of professional engineering experience, or Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university with 3 years of professional engineering experience
+ Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including CATIA V5
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Basic Qualifications (Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer):

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university with 9 years of professional engineering experience, or Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university with 7 years of professional engineering experience
+ Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including CATIA V5
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience creating and developing preliminary engineering designs and layouts.
+ Experience supporting manufacturing operations with design for producibility, affordability, issue investigation, and creating innovative solutions to complex problems.
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
+ Certification in Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is advantageous.
+ Active DoD Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $92,200.00 - $138,400.00Salary Range 2: $114,300.00 - $171,500.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
