Job Title: Assistant Manager, Employee Benefits
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Utilizing local offices with non-commissioned sales representatives, they offer a wide variety of retirement savings plans and services, including 401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) deferred compensation plans. Mutual of America also provides investment vehicles to individuals for their retirement and other long-term financial needs.
Responsibilities:
Perform service functions as related to Employee Benefits and acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform more complex transactions. Assist employees and retirees with benefits questions, issues and problems. Assist in overseeing departmental functions to ensure they are completed.
1. Responsible for the processing and overseeing that all enrollments, terminations, withdrawals and loans as well as benefit estimates, pension cash-out payments and other claims and administrative transactions and departmental clerical duties are completed.
2. Responsible for reconciling and setting up all weekly and monthly payments to vendors for health, dental, FSA, transit, etc. as well as service fees and charges.
3. Answer the Employee Benefits toll-free line and communicate with participants and providers regarding claims issues, benefits eligibility and other matters. Perform detailed research and resolve routine and complex matters as they arise.
4. Responsible for all individual product applications. Ensures all applications are signed by appropriately licensed registered representatives and that they are transmitted to Underwriting in a timely fashion.
5. Prepare QJSA retirement packages for active and terminated vested participants
6. Responsible for complex calculations on fund adjustments and/or corrections
7. Process premium contributions for individual products as well as COBRA and retiree health plan premiums. Maintain corresponding logs. Process all bi-weekly payroll premium payroll contributions.
8. Authorized to prepare and ensure accuracy of all COBRA termination packages. Responsible for all regulatory updates of COBRA regulations.
9. Review and research death claim payments and responsible for written correspondence to beneficiaries on established claims
10. Prepare and monitor monthly reports
11. Special projects assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum five years experience in employee benefits.
Knowledge of employee benefit laws and regulations including COBRA and HIPAA.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Series 6 Certification required, state licensing a plus but not required but candidate should be willing to obtain the certification.
