Job Description
SVB Startup Banking - New & Strategic Channels - Associate I
SVB Startup Banking is focused on engaging and building deep and authentic relationships with pre-Series A founders, companies, and channel partners like incubators, early-stage investors, law firms, universities, and industry groups. The Associate I will support a newly formed team (New & Strategic Channels) within Startup Banking. The new team is tasked with identifying opportunities for SVB to engage new channel partners and founder communities, including angel investors, angel syndicates, venture studios, and other ecosystem partners focused on underrepresented investors and founders.
The Associate I role is an entry-level function with a national scope responsible for assisting with portfolio management, client onboarding, tracking portfolio regulatory issues, and supporting cross-sell opportunities. This role supports the VP and/or Director/Managing Director and involves collaborating with cross-functional SVB teams to orchestrate a superior client experience and maximize support of client relationships. As the Startup Banking team seeks to programmatically scale its early-stage lending efforts, familiarity with equity and debt and solutions for pre-seed / seed stage startups is desired.
Facilitate new founder onboarding through client outreach, client onboarding, portfolio management, credit/regulatory tracking, and identifying cross-sell opportunities.
Educate prospective startup clients on the SVB platform and support the client experience.
Collaborate with internal teams (SVB Capital, SVB Private Bank, SVB Venture Capital Relationship Team, etc.) to leverage SVB's products and resources in support of our founders.
Support portfolio by tracking and analyzing key metrics for stage and industry trends.
Monitor and track portfolio health related to compliance and credit risk and take ownership over increasing founder success (NPS).
Collaborate with VP on new business development opportunities, startup programming, community events, and strategic initiatives. A successful candidate will engage in staying up to date on technology and startup trends, having familiarity with platforms like Excel, Pitchbook, Crunchbase, and other resources.
Build and develop strong relationships within the early-stage startup ecosystem, including founders, accelerators, incubators, universities, tech labs, and industry groups, along with seed and early-stage VC investors.
Analyze and manage internal and external data sources to identify top clients and prospects, determine potential cross-sell opportunities, predict fundraising needs, and extract industry trends.
Develop thought leadership as a trusted source for topics related to underrepresented early-stage investors and founders within the Technology ecosystem (participate in events, startup community engagement, etc.).
While working with the top startups nationally, you will gain a deep understanding of SVB's platform, products & services while developing your thesis on the ecosystem and unique ways to support growing founders in an entrepreneurial environment.

Hyper-focused on the overall client experience with the ability to take ownership of and drive processes and recognize when to escalate or engage others.
