**Aerodynamics Engineering:** The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Aerosciences Capability Team is seeking an Aerodynamic Design Engineer Graduate Researcher in Huntington Beach, CA. The selected candidate will execute the aerodynamic design, analysis, and testing of future-generation designs ranging from transport aircraft to tactical airplane, missiles, launch vehicles and hypersonic vehicles. The candidate will also work with a team of engineers that takes concepts from early-stage to full-scale demonstration utilizing application of CAD models, computational methods, wind tunnel testing, Matlab and Excel-based analysis methods, and data visualization techniques. You will also collaborate with a global team of engineers from Boeing, the government and industry to bring these concepts to reality.


**Preferred Qualifications** :


+ Motivated self-starter who can apply aerodynamic engineering, and CFD and CAD skills to a variety of tasks and projects

+ Possess excellent knowledge of aerodynamics and be experienced with use of computational models and wind tunnel testing

+ Knowledge of data visualization systems and software, such as Tecplot, to plot and analyze both 2D and 3D data is desired

+ Knowledge of use of engineering analysis tools such as Matlab and CAD software is highly desired

+ The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and to be able to adapt to a changing work statement is necessary.


**Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning:** We are looking for an Artificial Intelligence Engineer or Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate is a motivated Artificial Intelligence Graduate Student Researcher with at least three of the following experiences: programming, data understanding and processing, machine learning development, software/neural networks verification and validation. The selected candidate will assist in R&D and rapidly prototype advanced computing technologies for aerospace products and services. The candidate will be comfortable taking initiative, learning by experience; they will possess an interest in personal learning, seek feedback from others, and create innovative ideas. The candidate could be part of the AI/Autonomy, Language Technology, or AI Safety Assurance team.


**Preferred Qualifications** :


+ Currently enrolled in a PhD program involving AI/ML research or application

+ Experience in developing and deploying software programs

+ Experience in developing and evaluating learned models, including data prep

+ Experience with scripting languages for prototyping such as Python, MATLAB, and R

We are looking for a PhD candidate in computational materials science or related fields (e.g. computational chemistry, computational physics, applied math, etc.) with the ability to analyze diverse applied mathematical opportunities that arise in a large enterprise, including but not limited to applying computational and numerical methods to business and engineering applications. The candidate is expected to have the ability to analyze and develop solutions to complex problems, grasp business and engineering challenges, formulate, analyze, interpret and communicate results to the business and engineering communities. An ideal candidate will have a passion for applying computational methods to solve real world materials engineering problems.


**Preferred Qualifications** :


+ PhD candidate in computational chemistry, computational materials science, applied math or related fields.

+ Experience with chemical or materials modeling & simulation software.

+ Software programming skills and/or knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, C, C++, R is preferred

+ Have a passion for research & development and a desire to apply mathematics to solve hard industrial problems

**Electrical & Electronic Engineer:** The Boeing Research & Technology organization is looking for an Electronic & Electrical Engineer Graduate Researcher, to support the Communication and Sensing Technology team, and an Electrical Engineer Graduate Researcher to support the Electro-Optical/InfraRed (EO/IR) Mission Systems team. The candidate selected to support the Communication and Sensing Technology team will work on the development of Vision Enabled Flight, and the candidate selected for working with the EO/IR Mission Systems team will focus on providing next-generation capabilities to Boeing and its customers through the development of cutting-edge sensor systems, and the key technologies that enable those systems.

**Preferred Qualifications** :


+ Image and signal processing, computer/machine vision, radar signal processing, OpenCV, graphics processing, 3-D model rendering and databases, 3D estimation, imaging sensors, basic information and decision theory, and modern software development tools (git, CMake, etc.)

+ Experience in the development of high-level and detailed designs consistent with requirements and specifications for military/aerospace or other safety-critical systems

+ Pursuing a Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in electrical engineering.


**Electromagnetics Engineering / Physics:** Boeing's Disruptive Computing & Networking organization is seeking an Electro-Physics Graduate Researcher to support research into advanced concepts and prototypes for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components to develop new business opportunities. **Preferred Qualifications** :


+ Enrolled in graduate research program in physics, electrical, optical, photonic, or related engineering field.

+ Focus of research studies is related to quantum sensor, computing, or networking hardware.

+ Experience using typical computer aided design or modeling (CAD/CAM) tools, electronic design automation (EDA) tools for microelectronics layout and modeling, and typical prototyping software languages (Python, C/C++, MATLAB, etc.) is preferred.


**Guidance, Navigation, Control, and Autonomy:** The selected candidate will work with other Boeing engineers in a mentoring and collaborative mode in order to address research and development challenges in the areas of guidance, navigation, flight controls, and autonomy. As these areas span a wide range of technologies, the particular assigned work will depend on the strengths and interests of the candidate as well as the most current programmatic needs and priorities. With guidance from senior engineers, the candidate will perform research and development of technologies needed for areas such as advanced navigation and control system design and analysis methods and tools, dynamic system modeling and simulation, uncertainty quantification, trajectory optimization, and technologies needed to enable increased automation and full autonomous operations. With guidance from other engineers, the candidate is expected to have the ability to analyze and develop solutions to complex problems. The work involves aspects of problem solving, coding / implementation, model based engineering, simulation, algorithm development, testing, analysis, and reporting.


**Preferred Qualifications:**


+ Experience with dynamic system modeling and simulation, control system design and analysis theory and methods, GPS and non-GPS navigation, estimation, optimization, advanced mathematics, Kalman filter design, Monte Carlo analysis, MATLAB, Simulink, C or C++, object oriented design, system architecture, and autonomous systems

**Human Factors:** Boeing Research & Technology's Integrated Vehicle Technology organization is seeking a Human Factors Engineer/Human Engineering researcher to conduct human engineering design and analysis activities, and join their team in North Charleston, SC. Come and be part of a team that focuses on human-system interaction design and advanced learning & training technologies. In this position you will apply principles of human capabilities and constraints (e.g., physiology, cognition, perception, ergonomics, and anthropometry) and knowledge of the users and their environments to assist in the development, test and evaluation of safe and effective user interfaces. You will also utilize human engineering tools and methods (e.g., task and workload analysis, cognitive modeling, digital human modeling, simulation and prototyping, usability evaluation, statistical and human error analysis) to assist in the development, test and evaluation of safe and effective user interfaces and products.


Finally, you will apply knowledge of the human engineering design process, its elements, and its relationship to the product lifecycle to effectively analyze product design and lead research in rapid prototyping of user interfaces & experiences.


**Preferred Qualifications:**


+ Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance

+ Preferred degree disciplines are: Human Factors Engineering, Systems Engineering with focus in Human Factors

**Product Security** : The selected candidate will conduct research, monitor and analyze current and emerging threats directed at platform and embedded system targets. The candidate will also participate in the development and maintenance of custom code used to analyze traffic and proprietary protocols, develop attack and defense methodology, code on high risk systems, help develop technical solutions for information operations, and perform analysis related to national security topics such as intrusion analysis, embedded systems and vulnerabilities, advanced analytic tools and data visualization techniques. Additional work will include collaborating with peers and mentors to identify security issues of existing platforms and mission systems, assisting and/or conducting penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, performing analysis and/or reverse engineering of suspect source code, writing scripts and developing software utilities to automate security analysis efforts.


**Preferred Qualifications** :


+ Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance

+ Preferred degree disciplines are: Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics

**Structures Engineering:** Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is seeking two graduate researchers. One working on applications of structural analysis methods to work with the St. Louis based Structures Transition team developing and applying advanced analysis methods in the areas of additive manufactured structures, composite structures, and emerging structural concepts; and another one who is working on the application of structures technology, to work at either Huntington Beach, CA, St. Louis, MO, North Charleston, SC, or Tukwila, WA developing and applying conceptual design and advanced analysis methods & tools in the areas of composite structures, emerging structural concepts, structural repair, and applied multiphysics aerospace applications.


The successful candidate will have exposure to and experience with commercial finite element tools such as Abaqus, Nastran, Hyperworks, and/or LS-Dyna and will implement analysis using these tools. A basic understanding of aircraft structures and structural analysis is required. Development of mechanical test requirements and plans may be required.


**Preferred Qualifications:**


+ Experience with engineering and design software such as MatLab, Finite Element Analysis (Abaqus, LS-Dyna, etc.), COMSOL, CAD/3D packages (NX, CATIA, etc.), a plus

+ A basic understanding of aircraft structures and structural analysis including fatigue/fracture

+ Development of mechanical test requirements and plans may be required

+ Experience with additive manufactured structures, aircraft structural analysis, composite materials, working in a laboratory and strong programming and architecture development skills are a plus.

+ An understanding of aerospace structural concepts and architectures is desired.

+ Problems of interest include structural design for extreme environments, advanced composite analysis including impact simulation, applied topology optimization for generating novel architectures, developing next generation structural analysis tools, and multidisciplinary structural analysis including coupled loads analysis for launch vehicles.

+ Experience in applied technical research with strong proposal development skills


**Sustainability & Future Mobility Engineer:** Sustainability & Future Mobility (S&FM) enables the transition to carbon neutral aerospace through investments and partnerships for fleet efficiency improvements, sustainable aviation fuel, and future platform technologies. S&FM supports innovation and technology development efforts across the enterprise that align to meeting sustainability objectives. The selected candidate will work with the S&FM team to build Boeing and the industry's pathway to net zero carbon emissions 2050! In this role, you will help develop future flight concepts to explore emerging sustainable technology applications in energy and propulsion systems. You will support the development of aircraft performance characteristics and systems integration, as well as document processes and assumptions to support future phases of development.

**Systems Engineer:** This position is part of the Electro-Optical/InfraRed (EO/IR) Mission Systems team within Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T). The focus of this team is to design cutting edge sensor systems, and the key technologies that enable those systems, to support both Boeing and its external customers. Systems range from airborne EO/IR systems to space payloads. The team is focused on providing complete solutions, including systems engineering, optics design, mechanical design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, electronics, and advanced system modeling and simulations. As part of BR&T, the primary focus is on prototype systems and demonstrations, so we're looking for people who like to try new things, and aren't afraid of a challenge!


We are seeking a Graduate Researcher to join our system engineering team in Huntington Beach, CA to provide systems engineering for prototype sensing systems. Responsibilities will include converting customer's mission needs into engineering requirements, detailed performance modeling of our sensors, modeling and simulation of sensor systems and systems of systems, system optimization analysis, designing test processes and requirements, and model based systems engineering. The candidate will work closely with the modeling & simulation team, as well as the electrical, mechanical, optical, and software engineers.


**Preferred Qualifications** :


+ Experience with any of the following disciplines: Models Based Systems Engineering, Modeling & Simulation, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and/or test planning

+ Experience with any of the following tools: Cameo, Matlab, and/or engineering testing.

+ PhD degree in work from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

+ ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
