The Digital Media Assistant Director will lead the Enrollment Divisions efforts in maintaining and expanding its social media presence. This position has primary responsibility for enhancing the University of Notre Dames digital recruitment efforts including, but not limited to, networks such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok.

The Digital Media Assistant Director will supervise, lead, and mentor a staff of student interns hired to participate in social networking, chat activities, webcasts, podcasting, blogging, video production, and graphic design. The individual will monitor and manage online communities of prospective and admitted students through a variety of social networking platforms and evaluate and design marketing strategies to fully utilize emerging technologies to positively impact the Universitys enrollment goals.

In addition, this individual will manage the divisions in-house video studio for producing live and pre-recorded events. This position will also have the responsibility for shooting, editing, and producing a variety of videos to augment storytelling initiatives. Secondary responsibilities include serving on the communications creative team and working on special projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops, manages, and executes social media strategies for the Enrollment Division with a focus on delivering a holistic social media presence for the University. Serves as the Enrollment Divisions voice on social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. Provides timely updates and responses and highlights stories and messages in support of the Universitys enrollment goals.

  • Trains and supervises a team of student employees to monitor and share appropriate messaging to prospective and admitted students, parents, guidance counselors, and other influencers of the college search process. Meets on a regular basis with the student team to provide direction, problem solve, and brainstorm creative messaging and approaches.

  • Creates and produces a variety of videos that enhance the storytelling efforts of the division. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite sufficient to successfully manage and deliver content.

  • Manages the divisions in-house studio, evaluating and maintaining video and sound equipment and making recommendations for enhancements. Assists in the production of live and pre-recorded events.

  • Collaborates with colleagues in pre-college, admissions, and student financial services to create digital content and an integrated social media presence that increases the Universitys recruitment funnel. Monitors and reports on the efficacy of the campaigns.

  • Monitors, evaluates, and provides analytical reports on social media activity and conversation around Notre Dame and the Enrollment Division, including pre-college, admissions, and student financial services. Makes recommendations for messaging and strategic targeted content and responses. Fully understands the Universitys policies and procedures related to social media and web presence and monitors accounts for misuse. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (4 years)

  • Previous relevant work experience in developing and managing social media programs and campaigns in either a higher education or corporate environment with a preference to 3+ years experience

  • Demonstrated skills as a creative problem-solver with in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants and having an established online footprint and proven ability to manage a continuous, professional appearance in social media

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English and an understanding of social media metrics and tracking software

  • Must be a strong team player who can work fluidly with many diverse groups of constituents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education work experience, especially in recruitment, admissions, student affairs, or similar area

  • Graphic design and/or video production skills and experience



Finalists will be asked to submit and present an analysis of the Enrollment Divisions current social media efforts and a two-week social media communication plan.
