**ROLE SUMMARY**
Cloud is at the center of Pfizer Digital's mission to accelerate business innovation and pursue breakthroughs that change patients' lives. This role is an opportunity to feature prominently in that regard, driving outcomes that have real impact for our colleagues and the people we serve.
The Cloud Solutions Engineering Lead is responsible for the design, engineering, operationalization, and continuous improvement of Pfizer's global portfolio of cloud hosting solutions. This role is a subject matter expert in the field of cloud technologies with a broad range of general IT knowledge in a global and diverse enterprise setting.
The role will have primary engineering responsibility over Pfizer's bimodal cloud solution architecture, inclusive of the Cloud Brokerage product aimed at traditional and transitional enterprise workloads, and RAPID which is designed specifically to enable modern, cloud-native workloads. The candidate will lead solution designs for both areas, covering a variety of cloud service provider (CSP) solutions inclusive of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
Functionally, this role will lead the qualification of new cloud solution patterns, ensuring strict adherence to defined security and compliance requirements and fit-for-use while managing the transition of ongoing support for these new patterns to the Digital Command Operations team within EP&S (fit-for-purpose). The role will also be accountable for the lifecycle management of engineered patterns, ensuring the ongoing durability of the products in-use. In this regard, the lead is expected to maintain strong relationships with all technology providers to relentlessly pursue improvements that extract the greatest amount of value for Pfizer.
The ideal candidate will challenge traditional norms within the Pfizer infrastructure environment and bias heavily towards a software-defined paradigm that results in all infrastructure being delivered as code via lightweight, repeatable, scalable, and cost-efficient designs. Strong partnerships are expected with key domain areas within EP&S including supporting product teams (e.g., Operating System, Network, Database) and service areas (e.g., Global Information Security, Compliance) and with teams outside of EP&S including Digital Architecture and the Digital Creation Centers.
This position requires the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop, and coach others, and oversee & guide the work of colleagues and contractors to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business value.
