Job Description
The Director of Undergraduate Admission at Stevens Institute of Technology is responsible for the management of the recruitment and events staff and assisting with strategic initiatives linked to admissions goals and objectives. This position calls for an inspiring manager to galvanize and lead the recruitment team to collectively meet its goals. The successful candidate is a self-motivated, vibrant individual who can effectively communicate with prospective students and interested parties to explain the college admission policies, and procedures, and accurately answer questions. This highly visible and critical role will regularly interact with upper-level management and strategic partners. Travel to inform prospective students and school counselors of admission standards and policies, the programs of the university, and campus life are required. This is a full-time, year-round position in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions which reports directly to the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions.
The primary responsibilities are, but are not limited to:
Work closely with the Dean of Admission and Office of Financial Aid to develop and lead the implementation of a strategic recruitment plan and yield activities to enhance enrollment of domestic students.
Direct and manage on-campus and virtual recruitment efforts and events to achieve enrollment goals and initiatives.
Assist with the development and execution of strategies related to the application. Together with the Director of Operations, develop best practices pertaining to the application process to further streamline critical functions and support application growth.
Manage the domestic recruitment and admissions events staff, including performance evaluation, project assignment, schedule management, event planning and management, and facilitating staff meetings.
Oversee recruitment territory including attending in-person and virtual high school visits, college fairs, and associated on-campus or off-campus recruitment events.
Interview applicants on campus and virtually.
Evaluate and make final admissions recommendations for applications within assigned territory. Together with the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions, make final admission decisions in conjunction with shaping activities.
Participate in weekend recruitment events, admitted student events, and interview dates.
Manage the budget for domestic recruitment and yield activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications:
Bachelors degree
6-8 years of undergraduate admissions and/or recruitment experience or similar demonstrated background and industry knowledge
Minimum of three years of supervisory and team management experience
Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated cultural sensitivity, and experience working with diverse constituents
Experience working with diverse, multicultural populations
Prioritizes the student experience and provides exceptional customer service.
Ability to work independently and within a team structure
Organizational skills with a strong emphasis on attention to detail
Ability to oversee multiple responsibilities simultaneously while meeting individual territory, and department goals
Strong written communication and public speaking skills
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and as necessary to assist with on-campus/virtual events as well as recruiting duties off campus
Valid drivers license
Access to a dependable vehicle
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree
Previous experience within a competitive higher education college admissions environment
Experience reading and reviewing foreign credentials
Budget management experience
Experience with the Slate CRM or other similar CRM used in Admissions and Recruitment
