This position is part of the GAAP Consolidation unit of the External Financial Reporting area within Corporate Controllers and is responsible for the consolidated GAAP financials for Prudential Financial, Inc. (PFI) and its subsidiaries. The GAAP Consolidation unit assists business groups with accounting treatment related to enterprise financial reporting and responds to various requests for consolidated financial information. The unit supports both internal and external reporting requirements by coordinating the consolidations of financial statements by profit centers, segments, and legal entities.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare and/or review consolidated financial statement information and footnotes for inclusion in Forms 10-Q and 10-K filings
Analyze variances between periods for reported information in the financial statements and footnote disclosures
Review deliverables with management
Support the GAAP ledger close process, including late journal process and GAAP supplementals maintenance
Manage completion of XBRL filings in connection with Forms 10-Q/K filings
Partnering with various business groups, SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy on accounting and reporting issues
Work with external and internal auditors on quarterly and annual audit work
Lead and develop staff members
Assist in special projects involving enterprise initiatives including the implementation of new accounting guidance (e.g., Targeted Improvement of Long-Duration Contracts (LDTI))
Targeted Improvement of Long-Duration Contracts
Manage the coordination, preparation, and completion of LDTI financial statements and footnote preparation, including collaboration with internal and external auditors, Enterprise Valuation and Business Unit Finance Teams.
Develop and deliver ad hoc and recurring reporting and analysis packages for senior management.
Lead the monitoring/facilitating of the stakeholder review process for the LDTI disclosure/reporting packages, including initiating meetings with Enterprise Valuation and Corporate Accounting Policy to ensure the underlying material is presented clearly and accurately.
Play a lead role in updating LDTI reporting packages to reflect refinements, updates to prior periods, etc. This requires strong partnership with Actuarial and Business Unit teams.
Partner with other workstreams, as well as internal and external audit teams to ensure all processes are operating under a well-controlled environment.
Identify processes that can be streamlined and build in control checks to minimize data reconciliation efforts and increase focus on analytics. Explore opportunities to maximize technology and eliminate manual effort.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
GAAP accounting knowledge
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
Understanding of Oracle/PFAP Financial Reporting System/supplemental a very strong plus
Ability to work on multiple projects/deliverables under tight time constraints
5 to 7 years of experience in financial reporting and accounting type functions
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Strong project management and staff development skills
Highly motivated, team player that is detail oriented
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word expected
Overtime is required during peak periods
