Summary of Position
Manage and prepare enterprise wide Financial Reporting for both GAAP & Statutory reports. Manage external audits.
Perform technical research; write position papers; may develop reports, presentations, and recommendations. Develop and document accounting policy and procedures. Manage special projects within the enterprise as assigned
Responsibilities:
Manage financial reporting activities for GAAP & Statutory reporting enterprise wide.
Assist in the preparation of reports; track new and emerging accounting guidance impacting reporting.
Ensure appropriate cadence and timing of reports for proper review before being distributed.
Research and write critical accounting policies and play an instrumental role in working with the accounting team to ensure readiness for implementation of new accounting standards.
Prepare consolidated financial statements, coordinating with department teams to deliver the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and equity statement, together with all required footnotes.
Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
Identify process improvements to mitigate associated risks.
Manage and oversee special projects impacting the accounting division as assigned.
Review or complete financial statement disclosure checklists to ensure compliance with disclosure requirements.
Support successful completion of financial statement audits, including acting as a key point of contact with external auditors, drive preparation of audit schedules, and supporting the global process for both the group (consolidated) audit and statutory audits.
Maintain and identify improvements upon the current accounting infrastructure to ensure streamlined process for accurate delivery of general ledge data for areas of assigned responsibility.
Understand technical accounting areas; conduct research (revenue, lease accounting, share-based compensation, taxes, comprehensive income, asset impairments, consolidations, etc.).
Identify opportunities to streamline detailed reviews of assigned balance sheet accounts and key technical accounting areas, including share-based payments, and consolidation entries.
Interact with and assist external auditors as required helping to ensure smooth and efficient outcomes.
Cross train and develop other associates in the financial reporting area.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
CPA
MPA/MSA preferred
5 - 8+ years of experience in finance and accounting environment
Two years of experience in public accounting
Supervisory experience
Health insurance industry experience
Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Excellent verbal and written communication skills sufficient to prepare own correspondence and interact providers in provision of advice and guidelines
Experience with Oracle Cloud or similar financial software
Strong understanding of GAAP and STAT
