Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a GIS Specialist to be based out of our San Diego or Orange County Office.

The position will provide on-site geospatial data management, analysis, and visualization services to the Marine Corps Installation Geospatial Information and Services Program (IGI&S) at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

This position will be located at Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton, CA

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support geospatial data management, visualization, analysis, and editing tasks adhering to Camp Pendleton's IGI&S standards.

  • Support the development of web-based geospatial content/apps/systems under the direction of the base's IGI&S leadership.

  • Maintain a digital GIS Program Binder detailing the processes and actions involved in completing assigned duties.

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed work. Independently responds to technical/administrative instructions on results expected.

  • Provide consultation for geospatial strategic planning and resolution of issues, technical assistance and training and liaison support with installation/regional planners or other functional communities.

  • Meets with subject matter experts to discuss topics, such as technical specifications, customized solutions, and operational problems.

  • Defines optimum workflows for managing geospatial data, and designs, implements, and tests configuration changes to ArcGIS Portal Apps.

  • Review technical requirements to meet objectives and perform quality assurance on a variety of geospatial content/services.

  • Develops new approaches to problems and coordinates technical specifications, customized solutions, and operational problems.

  • Perform field data collection using a variety of GPS, GNSS, and related technology.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in geography, planning, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field with emphasis in geographic information systems (GIS)

  • 2 + years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • US citizen based on need to obtain a secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the spatial data standards or facilities, infrastructure, and environment (SDSFIE)

  • Experience working with ARCGIS desktop in a versioned environment

  • Ability to read and interpret as built drawings

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
