Summary: Tetra Tech invites you to consider a rewarding opportunity within our Sacramento (Rancho Cordova), CA office as a Staff Geologist / Hydrogeologist / Engineer.

Your Role:

Typical tasks will include -

  • Field work planning and preparation.

  • Drilling and monitoring well/soil vapor, well/sub-slab monitoring point installation and oversight, soil/soil vapor/groundwater/indoor air sampling.

  • Remedial system operation and maintenance.

  • Construction air monitoring.

  • Data compilation and analysis.

  • Engineering calculations, and report preparation.

  • The data collected and analyzed from these tasks will feed into various follow-up steps and environmental decisions, such as determination of presence or absence of contamination, defining the nature and extent of contamination, and remediation considerations.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Sciences (hydrogeology, geophysics, geochemistry, or earth science), or Civil or Environmental Engineering, master's degree preferred.

  • Has a desire to pursue a California Geologist-In-Training (GIT) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificates and subsequently a Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.

  • 0-3 years of previous experience.

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER trained with associated 8-hour HAZWOPER Refresher and Supervisor Training a plus.

  • Positive altitude and good work ethic, and the ability to work as a team and individually.

  • Possesses exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-starter, solutions orientated, and detailed oriented.

  • Possesses exceptional data analysis skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, AutoCAD and GIS skills a plus.

  • Possesses exceptional organization skills, experience as task leaders a plus.

  • Hands-on, ability to adapt to the various challenges presented by field work.

  • Experienced in various drilling techniques (hollow-stem auger, direct push, sonic, mud rotary, reverse circulation, etc.), soil sampling and soil logging techniques, soil vapor sampling (Summa cannisters with leak detection), and groundwater sampling techniques (purge and sample, dedicated pumps, submersible pumps, low-flow, depth-discrete, etc.), all a plus.

  • Experienced in due diligence work (Phase I/II ESAs) a plus.

  • Is capable of performing moderate work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Is capable of performing outdoor work within the U.S. during all seasons, including peak summer and winter conditions. Overnight travel may also be required.

  • This position will have field and non-field related responsibilities. Position requires 75% percent field work and will require travel.

  • A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions
