Our Opportunity: The Global Structural Packaging Design Director is responsible for developing the global design governing process to evaluate, to prioritize and to align central design resources, and to execute key beverage structural packaging programs for international markets outside of PBNA. They will lead the day-to-day design development, management and execution of the new global structural packaging programs, as well as, implement a global design governing process as a key connection point between each regional business/design centers and the central design and R&D functions. They will identify key stakeholders and continue to strengthen relationships with our regional business leads, our regional design centers, our regional R&D teams, and regional supply chain partners. The process will also identify key metrics and meeting cadence to evaluate and to prioritize the regional structural packaging asks. Successful candidates will demonstrate superior hands-on design thinking/strategy capability, possessing the ability to visualize design processes to drive executive alignment, to drive strategic discussions with key stakeholders, as well as to lead prioritization. LG1 Design candidates role/experience at PepsiCo should prepare them for a stronger creative leadership and management role within the Design Center. Accountabilities: Strategic Design Leadership: Develop the global beverage structural packaging design governing process for international markets outside of North America. A successful candidate will be able build strong relationships with regional executive stakeholders to build an effective governing process that aligns and prioritizes regional needs with central design capabilities. They will also then continue to refine the governing process through executing regionally specific structural packaging design programs. A successful candidate will then develop a holistic global structural packaging strategy across international beverage markets that unlocks the regional specific needs with global platforms and capabilities. Product Design Leadership: Utilize a proper design process to lead the team in translating brand values into meaningful structural packaging elements, in identifying consumer unmet needs, in developing mood boards/frameworks, in sketch 2D explorations, in generating 3D CAD models, in prototyping and in exploring Color, Materials and Finish options. A successful candidate will maintain clear communication, status, and project workflow with Global Brand Design teams, Regional Design Centers, Regional Business Owners and R&D teams. They will identify and promote self-initiated structural packaging projects that generate critical business value for PepsiCo and/or that create new consumer brand experiences. A successful candidate must be able to lead design workshops with key internal stakeholders by using a 3 lens approach in developing holistic structural packaging platform solutions that closely links brand, product, packaging and business viability. Design Project Management: Responsible for partnering across disciplines within PepsiCo and external teams to drive final design recommendations, decisions, and design approval to enable that final commercial 3D beverage structural packaging designs and design guidelines are developed and delivered on-time. Energizes and leads both internal design partners and external design resources from idea phase to launch. Ensures each stakeholder understands his/her role and responsibilities throughout the creative process. Regularly reviews the status of projects with appropriate leadership to verify that creative and strategic communications expectations are met. External Design Network: Supports the PepsiCo Design Organization in building and cultivating a strong external design network. Note:- COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for this role. Qualifications/Requirements 10-12+ years of product design and design innovation experience. Structural Packaging design, Product Design and Design Innovation experiences beneficial (preferably in a global and matrix-ed environment or working as consultant from a design firm for such organizations). Through past experience and case studies, demonstrates strong hands-on design ability creating strong consumer brand experience solutions.
