Global Business Development & Strategys mission is to drive growth by identifying and executing on new strategies and transformational partnerships that provide sustainable customer and franchise value for the Personal Banking and Wealth Management organization. The GBD&S team has three main verticals: _Payment Networks, Strategy and Franchise Growth_ , and _Strategic Partnerships_ .


As the leading Global Card issuer, Citis strategic relationships with global payment networks are a critical component of Citis payments strategy. The Head of Payment Networks is responsible for developing and maximizing Citis global network partnerships across all Personal Banking & Wealth Management businesses, including Branded Cards, Retail Banking, Retail Services, and Wealth Management). The position will continue to transform the nature of the relationship between Citi and its payment network partners to drive product development, marketing, distribution, capabilities, and technology opportunities in the context of an evolving payments industry. The Executive will leverage Citis capabilities and footprint to discover new ways to get ahead of competition in payments and to maximize the financial and strategic value of current and future payment network partners.


The Head of Payment Networks will also be responsible for:


+ Identifying and leveraging network assets and capabilities to accelerate Citis growth trajectory

+ Assessing new competitors in the marketplace and understanding the implications of these entrants and ensure that Citis position in the payments ecosystem with its customers is not disrupted.

+ Assessing changes made by the networks and legislation/regulations including their implications to Citis business model and will make recommendations as to what Citi needs to do to navigate the changes.

+ Implementing Citis network contracts with Mastercard and Visa to the fullest extent and will be responsible for tracking and monitoring that Mastercard and Visa fulfill their obligations to Citi globally.

+ Collaborating with the leadership team to prioritize strategic objectives and new partnerships.

+ Negotiating both internally with key stakeholders and externally with Payment Networks Partners.

+ Developing medium- to long-term plans and evaluating potential opportunities and business cases from a strategic, operational and financial perspective.

+ Managing the Payment Networks team, including management of people, budget and planning.


The ideal candidate will be a senior executive with significant experience in the payments industry who understands the intricacies and opportunities presented by the evolving payments environment, and be able to navigate within complex and highly matrixed organizations.


**Qualifications**


+ 15+ years of management experience in financial services or consulting with background in the Payments industry, digital commerce, network management, payments partnership management, product management with leading credit card issuers, payment networks or retail finance organizations

+ Prior experience with externally oriented partnerships, specifically related to analysis, negotiation, execution and winning

+ Strong collaboration, and relationship management at C-Suite level

+ Proven track record of execution and results and strong bottom-line orientation

+ Strategic and project management capabilities coupled with strong analytic and financial acumen

+ Deep expertise in the negotiation of various agreements.

+ Demonstrated ability to synthesize information, prioritize business goals and drive results with a high sense of urgency

+ Excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure alignment and buy-in across the organization

+ Ability to Conduct rigorous analysis and to synthesize complex and multiple source data into fact based and nuanced solutions

+ Ability to build credible and trusting relationships across Citi

+ Influential and high track record of followership with demonstrated experience gaining consensus and alignment in a highly matrixed environment- strong network of relationships among peers, internal partners, external constituencies, and decision makers

+ Strong interpersonal, influencing and written/verbal communications skills

+ Outstanding people leadership skills, able to envision an enhanced future state and motivate and inspire others to create it

+ Pragmatic problem solver, forward thinker with independence of thought

+ Ability to promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizational boundaries; willing to break down functional silos to optimize business results and to facilitate the overall growth of the franchise

+ Self-motivated, highly adaptive and able to work well in a demanding environment

+ BA/BS in finance related field required, MBA preferred

+ Travel approximately 15-20%
