Job Summary
This role will report to the relevant regional Nature-based Solutions / Natural Capital Lead and functionally to the Project Director of AECOMs internal nature-based solutions program (known as AECOM Forests). The successful candidate will primarily program manage the AECOM Forests program (approximately 50% of their time), which will support the achievement of our net zero goals by offsetting AECOMs residual emissions through development of nature-based solutions from relevant ecosystems (not just forests). This is a way to optimise AECOMs offsetting strategy regarding cost, benefit and risk as well as delivering wider ESG benefits. We are at early stages of project feasibility for AECOM Forests, so we are looking for somebody to manage potential partnerships and work with the team to propose best practice nature-based solutions. In addition to managing the AECOM Forests program, the successful candidate would also assist in winning and delivering nature-based solutions projects for external clients (approximately 50% of their time). This is also a growing area of demand for our clients globally, so we are looking to expand our technical and management expertise accordingly.

Designing, managing, negotiating and delivering nature-based solutions projects; liaising directly with potential project partners for AECOM Forests and external clients to do so
Managing NbS-related projects in alignment with the AECOM project management principles and making sure projects are delivered on time within budget
Working with colleagues to assess potential partners / external clients and their projects based on financial, technical, environmental, and social criteria
Coordinating environmental and social due diligence of projects
Leading and contributing to business development by developing partner / external partner relationships, writing proposals, leading marketing and thought leadership initiatives, and continuously improving our service offering to clients
Prioritising tasks and meeting commitments on an on-going basis and taking ownership and responsibility for the timely completion and quality of work
Leading and participating in project team meetings, client meetings and internal meetings (including feeding into AECOMs internal Net Zero Roadmap as a key member of the Corporate Environmental Working Group)
Coordinating stakeholders globally who are part of the AECOM Forests technical team
Communicate with key senior stakeholders including the AECOM Investment Working Group and ESG Steering Group / ESG Global Council
Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, policy, guidance and best practice relating to natural capital, ecosystem services, environmental valuation, carbon offsetting and net zero
Building relationships internally across teams within AECOM to expand the scope of the NbS practice
Contribute to the development of digital solutions to deliver AECOMs digital transformation agenda.
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Program management skills including the ability to identify, define and plan workstream scopes, and manage and report progress against milestones.
The ability to operate with credibility both at a senior level and also globally across the business comfortable reporting into and engaging with senior executives and advising on progress and challenges
Excellent numerical and analytical skills and the aptitude to understand and communicate complex technical information regarding natural capital
Experience ideally in economic valuation using non-market valuation methods to support policy- and decision-making
Excellent research and report writing skills
Preferred Qualifications
An ability to work to deadlines, work flexibly under pressure and respond to changing project and program demands
Exceptional communication skills including the ability to achieve results through advocacy, influence and persuasion
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
Experience in carbon forestry or other ecosystem carbon project development in-situ
Experience in negotiating partnerships and building collaborations around natural climate solutions and nature-based solutions
Experience in carbon markets and taking development projects to sale / closure.
Experience in economic modelling
Experience working with the carbon market standards
A geography, environmental sustainability, sustainable development, environmental sciences, environmental economics, conservation or other strongly numerate subject area degree.
