Job Description Summary:

The NetSuite DevOps Engineer position within the NetSuite Platform team will have the opportunity to ensure all software development, testing and staging environments are governed and available for internal and external solution delivery teams and supports the effective and automated transition of software and configuration deployments into the production environment. The NetSuite DevOps Engineer is responsible for facilitating collaboration in CFA's DevOps oriented environment. The successful DevOps Engineer is proficient in agile, configuration management, NetSuite administration, NetSuite change management using Strongpoint, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) best practices. This is a role that requires a high degree of organization and the ability to learn and adapt to current and future state technology and business architectures.

This position may be 100% remote but must be available for periodic travel to CFA offices in Charlottesville, Washington, DC, or New York City and reports to the Senior Director of Software Engineering, Multi-Platform.

Job Description:

As a NetSuite DevOps Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Successful planning and execution of weekly application releases - automated deployment of software and infrastructure

  • Troubleshooting production issues across platform and application domains, participation in On-Call rotation and escalations required

  • Assist with managing the NetSuite platform knowledgebase at CFA

  • Provide onboarding, guidance, and ongoing assistance to consultant developer teams that may work within CFA Institute's implementation of the NetSuite platform.

  • Assist with providing IT Operations and Development with stable pre-production environments

  • Ensure pre-production environments are synchronized with production (Following Dev/Prod Parity)

  • Automate existing manual processes (technical and process-oriented tasks)

  • Manage application integrations as needed

  • Actively participate in high level team activities such as suggesting architecture improvements, recommending process improvements and conducting tool evaluations

The skills and experience required for this role are:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Solid understanding of DevOps Fundamentals, Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • Solid understanding and experience working with NetSuite as an administrator and change manager

  • Proficient with agile methodologies and working closely within small teams and vendors

  • Hands on experience with deployment automation platforms - StrongPoint, Azure DevOps, Git, Pipelines, Artifacts, Deployment Orchestration Tools

  • Working knowledge of scripting languages, PowerShell, Python and/or Bash a plus

  • Strong ability to troubleshoot issues ranging from system resources, log analysis, and application stack traces

  • Experience with version control systems such as Git and branching strategies such as trunk-based development and GitFlow

  • Global cultural orientation and working experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor

  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation

  • Proficient using standard office software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook

  • High level of organizational and time management skills

  • Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations

  • Excellent consulting, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • Willingness to ask questions rather than just follow directions is must

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism
