Boeing Phantom Works creates the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business and is currently looking for a


Phantom Works FPGA Firmware Design Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join their team in **El Segundo, CA.** We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Phantom Works focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.


We are seeking a FPGA Firmware Design Engineer with experience in satellite systems to work in a rapid development environment. This engineer will work on digital design, verification, and implementation of firmware for FPGAs to help design payload systems for space platforms. The candidate will work with the algorithm and modeling & simulation teams to design and simulate algorithm performance and then convert the algorithms into hardware systems for test and verification. Specifically targeted technical skills include: digital signals processing for sensing applications; embedded software development; algorithm design and simulation; FPGA implementation with VHDL; and familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink.


Position Responsibilities:


+ Experience in space light activities.

+ Development and optimization of firmware for FPGAs, running advanced algorithms in firmware for real-time data processing.

+ Design and Optimization of processing and firmware architectures.

+ RTL design (Verilog, VHDL).

+ RTL verification (simulation, emulation).

+ Work with the electrical engineering design team to help develop requirements for circuit card designs.


**This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.**


**This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).**


**Basic Qualification:**


+ Must possess a current (within the last 5 years) final Top Secret clearance. Boeing Security will validate clearance level.

+ BS degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Engineering is required.

+ Experience in satellite development programs.

+ Experience using FPGA devices (Zynq, Virtex/Kintex) and tool chains (Vivado/ISE)

+ Experience using VHDL or SystemVerilog.


**Preferred Qualifications:**


+ Experience deriving digital FPGA requirements specification from higher-level (system or board-level) requirements specifications

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
