Michael Baker's Colorado Planning Team often works directly within public agencies assisting our clients,
working side-by-side with city and county staff. Our planners provide a full range of services from planning technician
through community development director. We help our public agency partners meet their work demands and achieve
their visions for great communities.
THE POSITION
The Senior Planner would work independently in our Michael Baker office in Lakewood, Colorado
The position would focus on supporting a range of planning areas, including hazard mitigation, climate adaptation, multimodal transportation and public engagement. The Senior Planner would be expected to offer guidance and recommendations to agency clients on complex, and at times, controversial planning decisions. The Senior Planner would also be a leader within Michael Baker's Planning Team, contributing to business development, staff recruitment
and training and leadership within areas of individual expertise. This would offer challenging work and the opportunity
to expand your skills in an established and growing company. The initial position could be either part-time or full-time
permanent work depending upon the applicant's needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will be driven, intellectually curious, committed to excellence, able to work independently, and
demonstrate a desire to make a difference in the communities we serve. The candidate should be energized by exploring and expanding skillsets in a wide range of planning areas.
Minimum skills or experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in urban planning, public administration, geography, or a related field
7+ years of experience in a municipal planning setting
AICP/LEED
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates creative and healthy skepticism for conventional wisdom
Thorough knowledge of the principals, practices, and trends of public planning
Active Transportation experience
Strong analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments independently with limited supervision
Proficiency with basic and advanced computer programs.
Strong public speaking
A commitment to strong customer service
Additional skills and qualifications of interest:
Business development/proposal writing experience
GIS skills
Sketchup experience
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $84,000-127,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
