Position Description:

Principal Electrical Engineer located at Northridge, CA responsible for the design, development, documentation and test of novel electronic systems with analog, digital and Radio Frequency (RF) circuits for both Alternating Current (AC) line powered and battery-operated microcontroller/ microprocessor based medical devices. Design and develop automated test systems or subsystems for testing the devices described above in both laboratory and manufacturing test environments. Develop digital, analog, power and RF circuit design for microcontroller based embedded systems. Understand and implement Ultra-low power battery operated systems, embedded and Bluetooth Low Energy systems. Utilize Printed Circuit Board (PCB) fabrication technology to include Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Ball Grid Array (BGA), blind and buried microvia and flex circuits. Leverage Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) documentation schematics, PCB fabrication, and assembly drawings. Utilize various laboratory instruments and tools to include Digital Multi-Meter (DMM), oscilloscope, logic analyzer, network analyzer and spectrum analyzer. Coordinate Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Cyber security Risk Assessment Risk mitigations for embedded applications. Utilize Design for Six Sigma, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) tools in various stages of robust product design, and Verification and Validation. Navigate the complexity of industry regulations and standards to include ISO 14971 (Risk Management), IEC 60601-1 (Safety), IEC 60601-1-2 (Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI)/ Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC)), EN 300 330 for ETSI RF/Bluetooth.


Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related engineering field and 4 years of experience with Electrical Engineering for Medical Device products. Must possess a minimum of four (4) years of experience with each of the following: digital, analog, power and RF circuit design for Ultra-low power battery operated, embedded and Bluetooth Low Energy systems; SMT, BGA, blind and buried microvia and flex circuits, PCBA documentation schematics, and PCB fabrication and assembly drawings; DMM, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, network analyzer, and spectrum analyzer; SDLC, and Cyber Security Risk Assessments Design mitigation; FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Design for Six Sigma; and ISO 14971, IEC60601-1, IEC60601-1-2, EN 300 330 for ETSI RF/Bluetooth.
