What you will do

We are seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer expert to join our team as a modular system and platform engineer. You will own electronic subsystem design, and development and release of these subsystems as reusable platforms for use in a verity of end products. As part of this development, you will work closely with lead product development teams to insure successful integration, and validation within their targeted products. For the right candidate, this position can be remote.

How you will do it

  • Distill product requirements into quantifiable constraints and actionable engineering systems design discussions

  • Define platform level test plan for hardware and/or software features

  • Solicit input from the development teams on future needs and enhancements to improve design and performance of the platforms

  • As a HW platform system expert, one must be able to:

    • Take responsibility for overall functional and performance readiness of the platform and its features throughout its full life cycle.

    • Develop early system prototypes to de-risk new technologies.

    • Triage and debug hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment

    • Manage program priorities and support a host of projects simultaneously

What you will need
Required

  • Bachelors degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field

  • Where legally permissible, if hired, candidate is required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 no later than his/her start date, unless candidate has a valid medical condition or sincerely held religious belief precluding the individual from receiving the vaccine

  • 7+ years of empierce in electronics design with 2-5 years of that being in systems design, systems architecture, systems integration, or related

  • Capable of synthesizing the common traits and interfaces shared across a wide verity of building and equipment control products to facilitate the definition and requirements for reusable blocks of functionality

  • Hands-on technical experience debugging complex subsystems involving network microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices

Preferred

  • Hands on experience with Microcontroller and Microprocessor based embedded design and development-preferably: ST Microsystems, Renesas, NXP/Freescale, (STM32, RX63/64M, iMx/Kinetis Series)

  • Hardware Interfaces- Ethernet, DDR3/4, Memories, SPI, I2C & UART and Surge Protection Methods for Indoor and Outdoor Products

  • Knowledge of network communications technologies like, Ethernet, RS485, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, and Sub G wireless technologies

  • Knowledge of PCB Layout standards and related Manufacturing processes (DFM,DFT)

  • Knowledge of design for Environmental UL, EMI EMC compliance, testability and manufacturability

  • Innovator able to solve challenging problems with novel approaches to achieve optimum platforming solutions

  • Circuit simulation (Spice analysis), Signal integrity

  • Experience in VA/VE functions and processes

  • Experience in prototyping and troubleshooting

  • Broad technical understanding of products, development, manufacturing, product cost analysis, etc.
