THE JOB
In the role ofPrincipal Payment Platform Engineer, you will be part of a new team that will build the next generation payment platform that must serve all Ticketmaster's ticketing platforms and give a unified and reliable payment experience for our fans worldwide.
You will be responsible for owning the AWS infrastructure and EKS/K8S clusters of the payment platform worldwide. You will have to rely on your wide range of experience to solve complex problems, and you will have to mentor software engineers. You will work with a large variety of technologies and will be part of a fully DevOps & Agile team responsible for the full end-to-end delivery of web applications / microservices, including the infrastructure and production operations.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Co-architect the infrastructure and design for failure, including failure tolerance and self-healing by-design, as well as establishing clear scaling-out paths;
Design and implement robust, reliable, highly available, and scalable infrastructure/platform with solid monitoring and alerting capabilities;
Conceive, plan and implement innovative approaches to solve complex problems of diverse scope;
Evaluate, prototype, and benchmark new solutions;
Prepare and present technical concepts to internal/external audiences;
Develop and support usable and maintainable DevOps tooling for the engineering team;
Write clear and maintainable documentation of best practices, technical guidelines, and reference architectures;
Drive to team mindset to use GitOps, DevSecOps, and DevFinOps principles;
Design, standardize, and maintain the common libraries used in the team.
Build, Manage, and Operate multiple EKS clusters in multi regions;
Continuously optimize services on all layers (infrastructure, platform, software) for high availability, high reliability, and high performance;
Monitor all critical services, troubleshoot, and address problems as they arise (including any needed changes in code, topology, resources, or configuration);
Continuously upgrade, patch, and scan for vulnerabilities in all components at all layers;
Implement and maintain PCI compliance across the team;
Produce audit evidence for PCI audit;
Ensure the right balance between standardization, innovation, quality, and technical debt reduction, to be able to deliver the business value fast;
Define meticulously the platform SLAs through load testing, chaos testing, and disaster recovery process;
Ensure high quality through automated tests;
Be part of pager duty rotation;

Mentor engineers and promote motivation.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)
Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience;
Expertise in administering and scaling Kubernetes;
Relevant software engineering experience with at least one language (Go, Java, Python) along with strong coding capabilities;
Excellent code-debugging/optimization, analytical problem solving, and analytical thinking skills;
Proven track record of taking ownership of exciting problems and optimally delivering results;
Proven track record designing very secure, high available, multi-region, fault-tolerant, and performant distributed systems;
Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservice architectures;
Have a solid foundation in systems programming, computer science, and software engineering;
Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills, including solid knowledge of how the various components work (kernel, CPU, memory, disk, network);
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) coupled with working in microservices environments;
Experience and proficiency in event-based and log-based monitoring systems (OpenSearch, Prometheus), deployment tools (ArgoCD, Gitlab-CI), and cloud computing (AWS);
Acute drive to automate, to constantly replace manual operations with automated solutions (GitOps);
Strong operational experience with supporting large-scale Payments systems and PCI audits, is a plus;
Strong prioritization skills and an ability to work autonomously, multi-task, and in a fast-paced, agile environment to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Experience working within the Finance Technology sector is preferred but not required.
