Job Description
Medline utilizes a variety of technology partners to provide automation solutions. The SCADA Engineer will collaborate with the external providers to identify, capture and alarm on information available within the multiple devices utilized by automation. This role will consolidate data from multiple providers into displays and reports for a business process. For example, outbound order flow would consolidate data from picking, conveyance and sortation systems.
Medline is in the initial phases of building the SCADA solution. This role will be helping build the foundation based on ISA95 standards. The SCADA solution will deliver:
Dashboards to assist in incident management (troubleshooting)
Proactive alarming data over texting/mobile networks to prevent outages
Trending data to be utilized in six sigma/continuous improvement efforts
Primary Responsibilities:
Analyze Medline automation systems to identify critical components to include in monitoring and alerting solution
Partner with supplier controls engineering staff to create real time interfaces for monitoring and alerting data
Determine/document control parameters for monitored data, develop action plans for when data falls outside of control parameters
Consolidate data from enterprise into a single dashboard providing visibility and drill down capabilities to be used by maintenance and operations teams for troubleshooting and optimization
Participate / Lead Root Cause Analysis sessions for controls related problems with vendor and internal staff
Create coding standards and interface standards to be shared with vendors during procurement of new systems
Review and improve disaster recovery and high availability methods/processes for automation equipment
Participate in technical evaluation of new technologies and vendors
Perform duties required by Scrum team as required to provide overall monitoring solution (documentation, testing, programming, etc.)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or computer science discipline and 5-7 years of experience with industrial automation systems
Experience in high volume distribution or manufacturing environments that utilize automation for processing across multiple shifts (24x7 ideally)
Experience with interfacing PLC data with PC applications
Ability to explain advanced technical concepts verbally and in written format
Ability to think critically with the vision to work both tactically and strategically
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, while working with minimal supervision.

High level of self-motivation
Contribute content for senior leadership presentations or report-outs
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Inductive Automation's Ignition Package
SQL/Oracle Experience
Experience developing PC software
Location and Travel - Role will be based in Mundelein, IL with ~ 10% travel
