Best Buy is looking for several Senior Engineering Managers to join Best Buy's Enterprise Data Platform team. This team is responsible for delivering the platform and tooling that supports reporting, analysis, and machine learning initiatives throughout Best Buy. Leaders on the Enterprise Data Platform team design and build scalable, high performing data streaming systems that can stand up to peak holiday load. We build solutions that require advanced thinking in challenging disciplines like event sourcing, stream processing, and distributed systems.

These are hands-on engineering manager positions. Individuals in this role will be involved throughout the development lifecycle for the Enterprise Data Platform with the primary responsibility of designing and delivering web-scale applications and services in support of the platform. Individuals in these roles will be called upon to lead the design and development of key e-commerce technology initiatives along with leading agile teams of skilled engineers.

Required Qualifications

• 5 or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelors degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience; 1 year experience managing and leading engineering teams.

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience

• 5 or more years of demonstrated experience running large projects; experience working with technical and business teams.

• 3 or more years of experience building highly scalable systems and applications using Java based high-volume/high-transaction technologies.

• 1 or more years of experience building large scale data processing near real time Streaming applications

• 1 or more years of experience using any kind of Message Queuing/Streaming technologies like Kafka and any NoSQL technologies.

• 1 or more years of experience directly managing and mentoring engineers, developers.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7 or more years of relevant professional experience

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 5 or more years of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas: application delivery; product design and product strategy; subject matter expertise in building Java based high-volume/high-transaction e-commerce applications.

• 3 or more years of experience with Google Cloud BigQuery or any other highly scalable datastore technologies

• 3 or more years of experience with Google Cloud Pub/Sub or any other streaming messaging system

• 3 or more years of experience with Google Cloud Dataflow or any other streaming data processing system

• 3 or more years of experience with building micro-service applications

• 2 or more years of experience with using Kubernetes or any other container platform.

• 2 or more years of experience with Infrastructure as Code automation tooling

• Any level of experience with JIRA or any other issue tracking technology

• Any level of experience working in an Agile environment
