Want to build and provide technical expertise to a program focused on designing novel delivery systems that serve as underlying platforms for the development of innovative nicotine containing reduced risk products for a Fortune 200 Company with some of the most iconic brands? If you have a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences field along with five plus years of research or industrial experience, we want to speak with you! We are currently looking for a Sr. Scientist II, Delivery Science to join our Product Science and Technology team in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will be an expert in the area of delivery science, with knowledge of innovative science and technologies in this area as well as demonstration of the creativity and discipline needed to translate the relevant science and technologies into products that expand our company's FDA-authorized reduced risk product portfolio. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to integrate technical solutions across subject areas to solve complex scientific problems.
What you will be doing:
Perform foundational research; develop novel delivery technologies to support the new product development.
Lead design and execution of foundational studies to support development of controlled release and delivery technology program.
Work closely with Innovative Product Development team to design tests to support the formulation development.
Mentor and direct the work of junior scientists and technicians on the team.
Work collaboratively as part of a multifaceted team and collaborate with other functions including pre-clinical, clinical, analytical and regulatory teams.
Assist the team manager in identifying and establishing co-development partnerships with external researchers and partners.
Build lab-scale capabilities.
Present scientific data in internal and external meetings.
We want you to have:
PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences field
5+ years of research or industrial experience.
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with in vitro and ex vivo assessment of buccal permeation, as well as the development of related methods.
Hands-on experience in HPLC, GC, Mass Spec, UV-Vis, Con-focal microscopy, immunofluorescence, and H&E staining.
Demonstrated ability in creative problem solving and application of scientific principles.
Strong technical writing skills: preparation of analytical methods, study reports, SOPs etc.
