As SVP, Social Strategy, the candidate will help our clients accelerate the business of social. From building brand in social to building community and active content engagement at the speed of culture.

If the world is social first, brands need to be. We are looking for leaders to help brands make sense of the new world order and make our earned ideas more participatory and our social content work harder.

The SVP, Social Strategy partners with clients alongside content creators and intelligence to bringbrand-enhancing work to market, across all social channels and stages of the customer journey. They are the practice expert, focused on unearthing and articulating cultural insights and conversational truths and leading the strategic deliverables from them. With a background in advertising, digital strategy, research, and/or account planning, this individual should be adept at identifying cultural trends that brands can tap into. They must have a demonstrated ability to develop, design, and conduct primary and secondary research, insights immersions, and social workshops.They are passionate advocates for the social space and audience behavior throughout the creative process and how action impacts the overall customer experience.

The SVP, Social Strategy ensures precision thinking and smart strategy is provided to internal and external clients. They seek to inspire teams with insight-driven, actionable briefs and compelling briefings - both reactive (responding to client briefs) and proactive (blue sky thinking) and in real time (at the speed of the internet).

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Articulates insights gleaned from social and conversational trends, artfully organizing information from observations and implications, to strategic recommendations

  • Stay current on audiences, cultural trends, social media behaviors, and platform best practices

  • Work directly with clients, gaining their trust, and inspiring them to take the right risks so they may become known for digital 'firsts' that wow their consumers and audiences, while ensuring their professional success

  • Collaborate with cross functional project teams to motivate, create, and implement short and long-term online marketing strategies

  • Proactively identify new opportunities for client growth, and enforce processes and best practices across all engagements

  • Manage, inspire, and educate direct reports and other junior staff who are a part of the social accelerator group

  • Have a hand in the development of the group overtime and its evangelization within the broader Edelman organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience at a digital agency, integrated marketing, or communications firm

  • Strong narrative, storytelling and presentation skills

  • A passion for social media, from both a branding and cultural perspective

  • Ability to manage multiple accounts concurrently in a deadline-driven process

  • Strong self-motivated and self-starting personality. Can find comfort in ambiguous and entrepreneurial environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in delivering effective social first campaigns for large, well known brands

  • Understanding of native best practices across social channels a plus

  • Understanding of earned media and ideas that generate headlines; experience working on campaigns that generate headlines

  • Knowledge of influencers a plus
