As a Software Architect Sr within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based remotely. This is a remote position and can sit anywhere within the PNC footprint, except for Colorado, Hawaii, Alaska. In person activities may occur periodically based on business need.

Job Overview:

As a Solution Architect Sr, you will be responsible for defining the solution & application architecture strategies within the Home Lending Technology department. In this full-time, largely remote opportunity you will be responsible for setting the strategic technical direction for multiple delivery teams working against several parallel projects covering all aspects of the business's strategy (operational efficiency, volume growth, digital experience, etc.). You will also assist with complex delivery tasks as needed included key delivery accelerators and reusable architectural components.
This role will require significant experience in delivering enterprise scale, cloud ready solutions that are resilient, scalable, maintainable, etc. Strong interpersonal skills, business acumen, and technical depth are also key attributes for someone to succeed in this role. The job will report to the Director of Home Lending Architecture and be responsible for partnering with the broader Lending Architecture team on departmental wide strategies.

Day to day tasks:

Advise and possibly lead the technical implementation of key strategic initiatives to deliver high value solutions or capabilities to business partners
Lead or oversee the technical implementation of new technologies such as Kafka, Kubernetes or cloud capabilities
Provide Solution and Application Architecture consulting to teams and programs
Build core Foundational capabilities and libraries to accelerate .NET Core microservice development and abstract physical implementations (Kafka or Flowable for example) for the Home Lending Organization
Evaluate and select development languages and libraries (such as Angular, .NET Core, control libraries, DI and Logging frameworks, ORM's, etc.) for use in Home Lending
Work with Lending Innovations / Architecture and Enterprise teams and provide insight on key cross functional capabilities and contribute via the inner sourcing model
Identify opportunities for new capabilities or technologies in Home Lending, potentially for use across business areas

Core competencies:

Strong enterprise distributed application design & implementation experience
Containerized application & microservices experience
Well versed in Solution Architecture principles and capable of architecting and implementing cloud ready, resilient, and scalable solutions and applications
Well versed in object oriented Application Architecture principles such as SOLID design
Well versed in various technologies such as databases (relational and NoSQL), message backbones, coding languages, frameworks, hosting platforms, etc.

  • Leads in the overall design of cross-functional, multi-platform, and Web-based application systems; oversees all application system processes.

  • Develops application architecture and blueprints aimed at reflecting enterprise business logic.

  • Defines application components, platforms, interfaces, and development tools. Directs mapping activities on specific technology platforms.

  • Provides technical guidance to application development teams. Consults on integration and conversion activities.

  • Conducts reviews, and analyses organizational needs and goals to develop and implement applications.

Service Oriented Architecture Technologies Knowledge of the technologies used to enable excellent IT service for business clients; ability to develop, implement and support a variety of such technologies.

Software Process Improvement (SPI) Knowledge of formal software process improvement disciplines, and ability to assess and improve the quality and operating costs associated with an existing application.


Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry relevant experience is typically 8+ years. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
