Tasks and Qualifications:
The Sr. Engineering Software Manager will be responsible for the management of the research and development for onboard & offboard software technologies used within Mobile Automation solutions. This is to be accomplished by providing the technical backing for all initiatives requested by the Mobile Automation Requirements Management team. Drives the software strategy and implementing relationship with main stakeholders of the market software ecosystem. Close exchange with universities and research entities as well as ERP providers and internal stakeholders. This role will report to the Vice President of Product Development.
Core Responsibilities:
Definition and implementation of a software organization for Mobile Automation
Establishing long range goals and objectives for software teams
Strong involvement in business development, growth, sales, and individual employee achievements
Ensuring release targets are met with acceptable quality metrics
Hiring, training, and evaluating engineers within the software teams
Conferring with Mobile Automation Requirements Management to build and maintain a direction roadmap for all software products
Developing and implementing policies, standards, and procedures for all software departments
Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software engineering, or related technical field. A Master's degree is preferred
5+ years managing software development teams. Experience managing robotics is a plus.
Experience working with logistics or industrial automation
Strong software development background (embedded, cloud & architecture)
Strong understanding of AGILE development practices and their relationship to traditional development
Strong people leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to structure and mentor teams
Exceptional communication skills
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to remain calm in tense situations
Detail-oriented
Quality-oriented and customer-focused
Self-motivated
Strong understanding of all underlying technologies used in the development process
