Do you have a talent and passion for creating interesting web pages and electronic communications that resonate with users? Do you obsess about how user interfaces and user experience can help convey information and meaning? This position assists the Office of the Provost and the academic enterprise at Stevens in maintaining and continually improving the universitys academic and research-focused web pages and online communications and presence. This is not a position for a web developer our site is already fully designed and launched. It is not a marketing position, although an understanding of how to win over varied audiences through effective communication is important. This is an opportunity to combine content management tools, web analytics, an eye for good visuals and online best practices as you partner with people across Stevens diverse academic enterprise and improve the content, usability and engagement of the academic enterprises web pages and related communications. In conjunction with the Associate Director, this position will help drive the Division of Academic Affairs message through Stevens public website, intranet pages, social media, search engine optimization, and mobile consumption. Additionally, this position will work with the Universitys content management system (CMS), assist colleagues in the use of CMS tools to enhance functionality and efficiency, analyze the effectiveness of online communications and facilitate the posting of online written content, imagery and rich media. This position will work in partnership with all academic units and collaborate closely with the Division of University Relations to translate Stevens' new brand strategy to the academic enterprise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assess through analytics and best practices the content and engagement of the academic enterprises web presence.
Help drive the Division of Academic Affairs web presence through the public website, intranet pages, social media, search engine optimization, and mobile consumption.
Serve as primary and consistent point of contact for clients on academic web-related issues.
Perform thorough and ongoing customer-focused quality assurance reviews of the academic and research-focused web pages, applying remediation as appropriate and escalating to IT/EWS when necessary.
Provide training support to academic content managers charged with maintaining their respective web pages; serving as primary resource for ongoing CMS learning, guidance and help.
Manage site reporting needs, compiling and reporting on key site usage metrics. Recommend improvement actions on the basis of those metrics. Monitor and respond to site feedback, routing it to appropriate site editors/owners for awareness and/or action as necessary.
Create dynamic functionality through our CMS-framework tools (e.g. inquiry forms and registration pages) to support awareness and engagement for new academic program and certificate offerings.
Participate in planning and development projects.
Work closely the Office of Information Technology and Enterprise Web Services (IT/EWS) and the Division of Communications and Marketing (DCM) to maintain the academic portions of the Stevens website and provide outstanding customer service while identifying strategic opportunities to communicate messages.
Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Required Experience: Bachelors degree with three or more years of related experience. Thorough understanding of various CMS systems and HTML. Understanding of web accessibility requirements, current strategies, and best practices in the web space including mobile consumption, search engine optimization, social media and other web tools.
Preferred Experience: Familiarity with various content management systems. Previous higher education experience and/or strong interest in higher education and academics.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Skills and experience in customer service and client relationship management. Experience with web content wire framing, navigation, visual design, testing/validation and Google Analytics. Strong planning and organizational skills, including keen attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects and changing deadlines.
