Tetra Tech's Denver, Colorado office is seeking a highly talented, motivated, and customer oriented applicant as a GIS, Database, and Applications specialist. The hired specialist will provide technical support on a variety of projects and programs, including support for federal, state, and local government contracts, as well as commercial clients.

Your Role:

This position requires strong GIS and web-based mapping application development skills as well as strong working knowledge of SQL Server and other relational database systems. It will involve but not limited to: working directly with clients to establish and document requirements and develop applications using COTS tools and/or customized solutions, reviewing existing practices for data collection and management, identifying targets for improvement, and using advanced data management tools to automate repetitive processes and improve data quality and visualization products, modifying existing systems based on changing technologies and client needs. Secondary functions may include traveling to occasional field work on projects/sites, assisting project managers/field staff with environmental sampling and assessment activities in support of environmental investigation and/or emergency response activities.

Responsibilities may also include training presentations; preparation of standard operating procedures, and other consulting activities.

Qualifications:

The applicant must have extensive/intermediate experience with the following:

  • Three to 10 years working in GIS, database, and applications

  • Intermediate level experience as a GIS web application developer for ArcGIS Enterprise, including the use of Web App Builder, Portal with languages and API's currently supported by ESRI including REST Services, Python, HTML, CSS, JSON, and Javascript.

  • Strong demonstrated experience as a technical lead to ascertain customer requirements, investigate alternative solutions, and recommend or develop solutions that enable non-GIS users the ability to utilize spatial data to solve complex problems.

  • Strong demonstrated experience using ESRI ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server 10.8 or higher (Experience Builder, Story Map, Field Maps, Survey123), as well as strong geodatabase design and management skills.

  • Experience with Office365 cloud-based environments and applications with a focus on collaborative tools and workflow automation; including MS Access, MS SharePoint tools, JavaScript, Python, and Make (formerly Integromat).

  • Strong database skills (e.g. Microsoft Access and SQL Server), a working knowledge of SQL, and experience using ESRIs ArcGIS on-line web-based GIS environment.

  • Developing digital data collection tools is useful, including ESRI's Survey123, QuickCapture, Collector, and Workforce, and Microsoft Forms, PowerApps, etc.

  • Software development experience (e.g. C++, C#, asp.net, etc.), as well as data analysis/task automation experience (e.g. Python, ArcPy, R, VBA, etc.).

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas--both verbally and in written-form--to customers, executives, or other technical or non-technical peers.

Desired skills in the ideal candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Being highly motivated, focusing on the customer, having effective and consistent communication, and able to foster/develop positive relationships in a team environment.

  • Proficiency with database design, database administration, and GIS/MS Office applications are required.

  • Must be willing/able to teach others and develop additional skills as needed for continuous growth.

  • Familiar ESRI tools, such as GeoEvent Server, Analytics for IOT, Notebooks and CAD (AutoDesk and/or Bentley).

  • Working with environmental data and sampling/monitoring equipment

  • Working in virtualized, cloud-based computing environments is highly recommended.

Education and Certiifcations:

  • B.A/B.S. in IT, GIS, Engineering, or related degree required.

  • ICS or other related training is desirable.

  • 40 Hr Hazwoper.

Physical Demands:

  • Has ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 40lbs.

  • Tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in wide range of weather conditions.

  • Able to wear full-face respirator and complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.

Work Environment:

  • This position is located in Denver, CO with the potential for teleworking from a location within 2 hours ground commute of the location. Telework is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

  • Will require occasional work on environmental cleanup sites and emergency operations center (EOC), as well as in a mobile command post (MCP).

  • Willing to work overtime as needed (nights and weekends).

  • Overnight travel for periods of 2 to 3 days at a time (occasionally longer) may also be required.



Salary Range for this position is $57,000-$90,000.
