The Senior Solution Architect leads multiple project deployment designs to guide project solutions and supports other Solution Architects and Infrastructure Analysts with enterprise infrastructure solutions. The senior architect is the lead in developing well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous project deployment designs issues and establishes the approach and direction for multiple significant projects. Acts as a resource for direction, mentoring and guidance for less experienced IT staff. Effectively communicates to individuals at all levels of the technical and business communities. Is able to operate as a contributing member of the Solution Architecture community, including the ability to use, share, contribute and influence the appropriate artifacts, approach and best-practices used to create enterprise-scale technical solutions. Monitors project schedules and costs. Contribute to Service Level Agreement creation and adherence. Typically requires 8-10 years of experience.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the development of infrastructure solutions intended for enterprise use with a 'cloud first' mentality
Participate in Global Intake Planning and Delivery Model to create or guide infrastructure solutions for specific value streams.
Create deployment designs and/or provide leadership and oversight on projects to less experienced staff for deployment designs to guide project solutions.
Develop and foster strong relationships with Application solution areas
Produce a standard set of artifacts with sufficient implementation details so that the blueprint and/or topology becomes an integral part of "as built" documentation to guide production readiness, production operation, and disaster recovery.
Serve as an active member of the Cigna Solution Review Board and Technical Assessment and Alignment Committee, ensuring architectures and design align with IT standards, maximizes technology reuse and supports technology strategy directions.
Refine or oversee project deployment designs with input from build engineers, service owners and enterprise architects to ensure strategic technology alignment.
Refine the project based infrastructure design with input from build engineers, service owners and solution architects to ensure application solution alignment.
Complete the deployment design for project solutions with implementation details so that it becomes an integral part of "as built' documentation to guide production readiness, production operation and disaster recovery.
Ensure architectural adherence throughout the design and deployment process.
Ensure project solutions meet all non-functional requirements
Ensure project solutions can meet business service level agreement objectives
Communicates with and engages appropriate IT organizations to ensure strategic technology alignment and application solution alignment.
Adopt and communicate new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices and technology assistance
Work with vendors, Enterprise Architecture and product management areas to establish required infrastructures and frameworks, supporting product evaluations, and proof of concepts as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
B.S. in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
Broad Infrastructure and/or application architecture background
In depth knowledge and experience with cloud computing, specifically with AWS and Azure offerings
Familiarity with Agile delivery methodology.
Familiarity with ITIL framework and CMDB.
Familiarity with automation robotic process automation toolsets such as Pega and Blue Prism.
Broad Infrastructure and/or application architecture background
Hands-on delivery experience as a designer, engineer or developer
Deep knowledge in two or three technology discipline areas (Operating Systems, Databases, Systems Management, Network, Information Security, Storage and Backup, Internet Technologies, Private/Public Cloud, Virtualization, Directory Services, Application Servers, Hardware, etc.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
Strong leadership and influencing / negotiation skills
Strong interpersonal / relationship management skills
OTHER VALUED SKILLS
Experience using tools like System Architect, Sparx, or CMDB tools to describe, capture and/or learn infrastructure architecture for enhancing ITO services and integration solutions and driving better infrastructure architecture alignment with infrastructure standards and reference models.
Application development experience including web development, data base processing, and various middleware technologies
This role is WAH/Flex, which allows most work to be performed at home. WAH/Flex employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if they choose to come onsite or if required to periodically come on site.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $120,100 - $200,100, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
