TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Manager, Database Administration to join our team in Orlando, FL.
Job Summary:TheManager, Database Administration is responsible for setting up, managing, and optimizing databases in support of Enterprise and External Web applications. This includes working closely with system managers and developers to add system functionality, tables, and data, optimizing systems for availability and performance, and contributing to system upgrades. The Manager is responsible for maintaining applications, processes, and maintenance procedures, performance tuning and documentation and management of changes to database operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but not limited to:
Setup, configure, and install database systems.
Optimizes and tunes database systems.
Pro-actively monitors performance and capacity.
Performs data ports and data loads; monitors and tests data integrity as required.
Backup, recovery, testing of recovery procedures, and archiving databases.
Troubleshoots database issues and performs database impact analysis for proposed changes.
Ensures that systems stay updated on all relevant patches and upgrades.
Alter tables and schema structure as required.
Serve as technical expert for database design and support issues.
Works with the Application and Internet Development teams to develop stored procedures, triggers, and code to support enterprise applications as well as to enforce coding standards.
Executes database release management processes and coordinates maintenance of development, testing, and production environments.
Directly supervises staff.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in computer science, engineering, or information management from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Required Skills & Experience:
At least five years of experience in Database Administration
Microsoft Certified SQL Server Database Administrator
Experience writing and optimizing complex SQL and T-SQL
Ability to dissect complex queries with sub-queries
Able to debug T-SQL code issues
Able to troubleshoot production environments for query performance issues
Demonstrated ability to identify the bottlenecks in CPU and IO
Significant experience with architecture and database design for SQL Server 2014 and later.
Hands-on experience as a lead DBA supporting multiple database environments with a team.
Experience with capacity planning, performance tuning and optimization of database environments.
Options to partition data.

Strong understanding of SQL Server high-availability solutions and architecture:
Log shipping
Always On
Mirroring
Strong experience with DB backup and recovery
Able to handle shifting priorities and work in a team environment
Good interpersonal skills
Able to work remotely and support on call efforts
Desired Skills:
Data warehouse design experience
Experience using Red Gate tools (SQL Compare, SQL Data Compare, SQL Source Control preferred)
