National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) has an opening for Principal Technologist in Washington, DC.


Duties: Manage moderate to high complexity IT projects as the subject matter expert or technical consultant. Work on projects, or support issues, that involve a degree of risk that may impact enterprise-wide performance. Research and analyze advanced technology trends within area of expertise. Identify emerging trends and initiate research projects for team members. Coordinate the assessment of emerging technology. Evaluate and recommend new products or tools for the organization. Contribute to a cost-benefit and risk analysis and present options to management. Partner with leadership to help define and communicate long-term technology strategy and planning for the enterprise. Assist and lead in the development and analysis of source selection strategies. Work with service providers to ensure that in-scope technical solutions are consistent with the enterprise business strategies and architecture. Serve as a consultant on escalation points. Project project managers with technical consultation and advice, enabling quick response to inquiries related to the program/project.


Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field followed by seven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or seven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation. Experience must include seven years of experience with: 1) Mulesoft Administration (version 3.x, 4.x) configuring CloudHub VPCs, DLBs, CLBs; 2) Anypoint Access Management, Policy management (security, auditing), Logging, Runtime Manager and Performance Monitoring, and other critical Mule Admin functions. 3) Middleware Platforms including IIS Administration. Additionally, position requires three years of experience in the following: 1) AWS environment; 2) AppDynamics Monitoring; and 3) EFK Logging & Monitoring. This position requires pre-employment background verification, medical review and pre-employment drug screen and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.
