As a Software Engineer Summer Intern, you will join Prudentials Global Technology team who is the spark that ignites the power of Prudential for our customers and employees worldwide. The summer internship experience offers the feel of working in an exciting ground-breaking environment while still being exposed to the broader Prudential network and financial services industry. You will be encouraged to expand your skills, test creative boundaries, share new ideas, and most importantly - have fun while learning and making an impact!










Timeline:




The internship program will run from Monday, June 5, 2023, to Friday, August 11, 2023.

Your Day to Day:




We aim to attract and develop the next generation of technology leaders at Prudential. As a Software Engineer Summer Intern, you will work side-by-side with dedicated people, receive significant exposure to senior leadership, participate in trainings, all while gaining hands-on experience in one of the following areas: Architecture, Asset Management Financial Management & Corporate Technology (AMFM CT), Chief Technology Office (CTO), Chief Data Office (CDO), Chief Operating Office (COO), Enterprise Digital Technology (EDT), U.S. Insurance & Retirement (USIR) or Information Security Office (ISO). Other opportunities could be outside Global Technology, in the Chief Investment Office (CIO), PGIM Fixed Income, or PGIM Investments. Your summer experience day to day could be:




  • Web & Application Development, Cloud Architecture & Operations, Platform Engineering, Information and Cybersecurity, Enterprise Service Management and Database Management



  • Designing & developing code based on the provided technical requirements, and completing test scenarios to insure the stability and performance of all new code



  • Applying Splunk to run complex data analytics on machine-generated data, while using Ansible and CloudFormation to automate application deployment, configuration, and infrastructure-as-code delivery



  • Researching and managing third party vendor products and integrations using Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and application toolkits



  • Supporting various components of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) while using various programming languages like Python and Java

Required Qualifications:




  • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited bachelors program graduating between December 2023 and May 2025.



  • Preferred majors include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, and Statistics; And we welcome all other technical areas of study that include programming theory in your curriculum to apply!



  • Prudential does not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Successful candidates must possess the requisite US employment authorization to be eligible for consideration.







Preferred Skills:




  • Familiarity and understanding of object-oriented design concepts, data structures, and algorithms



  • Familiarity and understanding of one of the following languages, technology stacks and or data tools: Java, C++, Python, .Net (VB, C#, ASP), JavaScript, HTML, XML/XSL, SQL, Batch Scripting, Splunk, SQL, Tableau, Hadoop, ETL



  • Familiarity and interest in AWS/cloud computing software and technologies: Lambda, Docker, ServiceNow, APIs, microservices



  • High curiosity, willingness to learn and an intuition for business
