Capital Planning Communication Lead

The Capital Planning team within Citi Treasury is responsible for all aspects of capital analysis, forecasting, and planning for Citi, including the firms capital ratios; Risk Weighted Assets (RWA); Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR); and Recovery & Resolution Planning (RRP). The organization spans the full capital planning continuum, with the Head of Capital Planning reporting to the Citi Treasurer.


Within Capital Planning is the Firmwide Stress Testing Economic Analysis (STEA) function, which is responsible for three key aspects of capital planning: 1) understanding, contextualizing, aggregating, synthesizing and reporting key Assumptions, material model Limitations and Weaknesses (collectively, ALWs) across Citis capital planning processes, with a specific and immediate focus on CCAR; 2) ensuring sufficient quality assurance and other compensating controls are in place to mitigate the impact of any such key Limitations and Weaknesses; and 3) conducting analysis to allow for deeper understanding of the drivers underlying the firms financial forecasts across all businesses, functions, and product areas.


This role will support the Firmwide STEA function by operating as an internal consultant responsible for a range of high-profile, high-impact communications to senior governance committees; the Citi/CBNA Boards and sub-committees of those Boards; internal auditors; and regulators who are stakeholders in the Capital Planning processes. The Communication Lead will play a critical role in the holistic capital planning transformation that the firm is undertaking, interacting with a number of process and model owners to understand the root causes of the issues that may compromise the capital planning process, and helping to articulate and communicate areas for future improvement.


This role provides significant exposure to senior management, and partners extensively with colleagues across Finance; other 2nd line of defense functions including Risk Management; and the lines of businesses. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and excellent interpersonal skills are required given the high level of interaction with senior managers and other stakeholders throughout the firm **.**


**Reporting Structure and Responsibilities**


+ Supporting the Firmwide STEA function to tell the story as to how and why Citi can take confidence in its capital planning processes and outputs, and how those processes can improve over time

+ Delivering thought leadership and supporting the implementation of changes, as necessary, to the ALW framework (Principles, Policies, and Standards) to enhance Citis capital planning processes and satisfy evolving regulatory developments

+ Leading the creation of relevant, synthesized, and Senior-level materials (e.g., for the Capital Committee and the Board of Directors, Internal Audit, and regulators) to transparently communicate key ALWs and associated compensating controls

+ Partnering across Capital Planning to communicate the compensating controls that ensure overall soundness and adequacy of Citis capital

+ Developing a strong working relationship with individual process and model owners across the organization in support of their individual responsibilities and in support of creating a holistic framework in which the firm executes its collective capital planning responsibilities


**Qualifications**


+ Exceptional communication skills, including well-developed verbal, written and presentation skills. Must be able to quickly create concise, informative executive summaries for internal and external stakeholders that convey a well-developed story and advocate for a well-reasoned point of view.

+ Creative skills necessary to craft persuasive, well-researched narratives for senior consumption.

+ Aptitude for translating strategy into execution in a complex and cross-functional organization.

+ Strong attention to detail with proven ability to distill complex ideas into simple stories. Previous experience in external consulting, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Controllers, Capital Planning or business management functions preferred.

+ Minimum 10 years of proven experience in driving results with a strong understanding of the financial services industry. Understanding of capital markets and/or institutional banking a strong plus.

+ Strong audit instincts to apply independent judgment to historical business practices, a proven ability and willingness to challenge the status quo, and with a strong change agent mentality to drive process enhancements and simplification.

+ A self-starter with proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks, drive multiple deliverables and stakeholders in a dynamic and continuously changing environment.

+ Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills demonstrating cross-cultural understanding and knowledge across multiple geographic locations enabling ability to gain consensus and agreement across disparate functions, products, and geographies.

+ Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel. Must have ability to stay ahead in a constantly changing environment.

+ Must be a change agent, ensuring others understand current direction. An undergraduate degree is required.
