Architect and Design Representative

As an Architect and Design Representative, under direct supervision, this position represents skilled and/or experienced level sales professionals. The assumption is that this position has received company orientation and/or some limited specification/ color and sales training and has generated revenue and/or profit margin in its accounts and territories. This candidate will be responsible for learning sales techniques and reporting daily or weekly activity to an Area Manager as well as CRM input and follow-up. Generally, focuses on local market accounts and prospects and participates in key account sales teams. Frequently reports to an Area Manager. This regional position is a key specification driver in establishing, maintaining, and growing our architectural specification share for PPG Paints through our commercial paint products and color. This position is a system approach to nontraditional selling with strong relationship-building skills requiring on-site recommendations, guidance, and project meetings with owners, architects, interior designers, product specifiers, general contractors, and key corporate accounts.

Key Responsibilities
A day in the life: Build and develop relationships with firms/customers to strengthen the relationship with PPG. Once relationship is built, further presentations will be required to influence the project specification as Basis of Design, As/Or Equal and to ensure PPG is listed as an approved manufacturer for products and color.
The outward title of Architectural and Design Representative role addresses architect/specifier, interior designer, and general contractor needs to generate construction documents known as specifications and color schedules or also known as finish schedules, to paint new commercial buildings and monumental projects.
This role will address both product systems on the technical side and the color schedules on the design side and must possess the higher-level understanding of complexity and proficiency of both.
Project tracking and planning, communicating plans, allocating tasks, setting milestones, and effective time management and self-motivation skills are key.
This position will call on those firms and general contractors who influence specifications for commercial businesses, building/office space, retail, hotels, resorts, etc.
The role is expected to hold technical paint system conversations with specification writers and discuss color schemes with interior designers.

Must have excellent communication! Listening and public speaking skills, along with strong team interaction skills and a high disposition for collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in specification and color design work with a consistent track record of success; prior sales experience is a must as this is a leadership role converting specification opportunities to revenue.
Interior Design Degree and/or equivalent experience to influence Architectural Specifications Communication skills must embody customer centric communication in person, virtual and verbal. Strong presentation skills and competency in front of various audiences is a must.
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, and web-based applications (Construct Connect, BSD, AVITRU, BIM/REVIT) is a must.
The ability to engage with our company CRM system on all levels and involve every level of employees and customers. Excellent organizational and project management/tracking skills Preference is given to subject matter experts in AIA Master Format and CSI/CDC Three Part Format, IIDA or ASID.
Must understand the relationship between Owner/Architect-Designer/General Contractor/Painter. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Most of all must be self-motivated and a self-starter.
