As an integral member of the Small Business Portfolio Management and Analytics function, the Sr Data Analyst will be charged with combining analytical decision frameworks, hands on data analysis, leadership, and strategic vision, all toward the delivery of advanced analytics capabilities that enable the divisions digital transformation underwriting strategy.
This data-focused role requires the ability to mine various data sources, build and analyze models, communicate findings to senior portfolio owners, and implement automated real time solutions in production. This individual will serve as a Pod Owner and leader of multi-disciplinary peers across actuarial, portfolio management and the global analytics COE under the divisions agile operating model. Proficiencies span data analytics, modeling, portfolio monitoring, visualization, query design, data profiling, complex problem solving, and business architecture.
Responsibilities
Serve as a Pod Owner under the Underwriting & Portfolio Management Domain, leading cross-functional teams in agile operating model
Leverage a deep understanding of the domain objectives and market dynamics to develop objectives and requirements, and provide leadership to team members and other stakeholders
Contribute to the advancement of underwriting rules and pricing frameworks, including data analysis, exploration and modeling initiatives
Support the development of predictive models, AI / ML and 3rd party data enabled capabilities to drive growth, underwriting profitability, automation and client experience
Build granular pricing and monitoring dimensions (i.e. geographic, exposure, coverage levels, etc.) for portfolio and distribution management; Implement frameworks to measure performance against KPIs with actionable analytics
Conduct market and competitive analysis to continuously improve distribution outcomes
Conduct experimental analysis to test hypotheses and identify opportunities to solve key business challenges with data-centric, automated solutions
Extract data for analysis using data management tools identify opportunities to improve data integrity, architecture and efficacy
Support continuous process and governance improvement; identify opportunities for automation, simplification and efficiency
Qualifications
4+ years of Data Analyst and/or Business Analyst experience, strong preference for experience in P&C Insurance Industry
BS Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial or Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
Proficient in Python or R/SQL languages and strong understanding of databases, data structures & relationships
Data Visualization and application design experience a plus (i.e. Qlik)
Excellent analytical and communication skills to translate complex business challenges and solutions clearly and concisely to both functional stakeholders and sr management
