**Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Modeling and Simulation / Military Operations Research Engineer** to join our team to work on Advanced Programs. This position will be located in Northridge, California.

Operations Research is an exciting field which evaluates the effectiveness of both friendly and adversary military systems. Tasking involves researching and obtaining a working knowledge of a wide breadth of engineering topics to estimate the capabilities of a diverse set of sensors, vehicles, and weapons.

The successful candidate is an established user and emerging expert in the field of engagement-level analysis. Depth of experience both as analyst and model developer with both ESAMS and/or TMAP is highly desired. If the candidate is experienced in only one tool, then they must be willing to work to develop expertise in the other through on-the-job training and stretch assignments.

In this role, the selected candidate will:

+ Use creative problem solving to develop models of military systems to use in simulations to determine the operational effectiveness of both existing systems and novel concepts
+ Perform operational analysis, mission effectiveness analysis, and optimization on conceptual and developmental phase advanced weapons initiatives
+ Model operational environments, perform trade studies via AFSIM, ESAMS, TMAP and other computer simulations
+ Provide technical guidance to engineering development of weapon systems based on simulation results
+ Develop graphical user interfaces and visualization tools
+ Communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences the real-world implications of design requirements
+ Investigate and model advanced radars, comms, sensors, missiles, and aircraft

This role includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:

+ Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis tasks assessing system survivability,
+ System effectiveness, and overall system performance in campaign / engagement / mission-level scenarios.
+ Perform trade studies and simulation analyses with the objective of enhancing and optimizing system performance capabilities.
+ Develop performance models, system tactics, algorithms, threat models, and command and control models for new and existing system simulation frameworks.

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Modeling and Simulation Engineer (T04) are:

+ High school diploma/GED and a minimum of 13+ years of experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 9+ years modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Systems, Systems Analysis, and Design,. Will consider a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 9+ years modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Systems, Systems Analysis, and Design, OR
+ MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 7+ years modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Systems, Systems Analysis, and Design, OR
+ PhD. Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 4+ years modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Systems, Systems Analysis, and Design
+ Current/active U.S Government issued DoD Secret Clearance; clearance must have been issued/adjudicated in the past five (5) years

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Knowledge of C++, Python, and MATLAB
+ Experience with AFSIM and/or Suppressor
+ Experience integrating plug-ins to AFSIM
+ Knowledge of RF Threat Modeling
+ Knowledge of Electronic Attack techniques and modeling
+ Knowledge of guided missile design
+ Experience with engagement-level military engagement tools, especially ESAMS and TMAP, as well as RADGUNS, SHAZAAM, ARGO, TACZAAM, AJEM, JAAM, or others
+ Working knowledge of FORTRAN to pull insights from source code of legacy tools
+ Working knowledge of Red Tactics Techniques and Procedures (TTPs)

Salary Range: $125,800.00 - $188,600.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
